HOW TO MAKE JESUS SMILE
The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord,
even the demons submit to us in your name.” He
replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. I
have given you authority to trample on snakes and
scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy;
nothing will harm you. However, do not rejoice that the
spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are
Neal Hughes written in heaven.” At that time Jesus, full
Director of Missions of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, “I praise you,
Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have
hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little
children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.
Luke 10:17-21
Did you see the word picture in scripture regarding joy? The Bible says in
verse 17 that the people “returned with joy” after sharing their faith. These
verses echo the words of the psalmist, who states, “He who goes out
weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying
sheaves with him” (Psalm 126:6). There is something incredible about
going and telling others about Jesus. Dear friend, who is your one? Who are
you praying to come to Christ? What is the name of the family you are
building a close relationship with as a Christian? Are you telling others the
good news that Jesus saves?
Did you also see the other word picture in the scriptures regarding joy? The
Bible says in verse 21 that Jesus was “full of joy through the Holy Spirit.”
Seeing the people of God go out to tell others the good news caused our
Savior to smile. Have you made Jesus smile lately? The Lord even thanked
the Father that those who went out had faith enough and were faithful
enough to obey His word. Jesus also invited us to rejoice that “people’s
names are written in heaven.” Beloved, if the angels rejoice, how much

more should the redeemed express joy when a name is written down in the
Lamb’s book of life.
In recent days, I have heard of two wonderful events where joy filled the
church and the streets of heaven. Heritage Baptist Church shared that they
recently had an evangelistic night called “Serve the Server.” The objective
was for Heritage members to bring people who serve them daily at
restaurants, gas stations, hair salons, etc., and invite these servers to a
special dinner in their honor. This event resulted in 50 members and 69
server guests. The final outcome will be told in heaven, but the Church is
filled with joy in the witnessing opportunity given them through the
evangelistic event. And Jesus is smiling, too.
Dalraida Baptist Church members were intentional in the collection of
names from the community during their fall festival. Ninety-four members
of the Church family went out and visited 216 families on a Sunday night
following the event. Most were personally contacted, and Dalraida was
warmly received. The final outcome will be told in heaven, but the Church
is filled with joy in the witnessing opportunity given them through the
evangelistic event. And Jesus is smiling, too.

Social Worker Job Opening with Alabama Baptist

Children’s Home
Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes has an excellent full-time opportunity for a
social worker in the Montgomery area. This position will be responsible for the
delivery of case management services to children and families in our Foster
Care program.
Applicants must have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Social Work from an
accredited college or university. Applicants must hold a current license from the
Alabama State Board of Social Work Examiners or are license eligible.
Applicants must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including some evening
hours.
