1. Find the rms voltage induced in the secondary coil of 200


turns of an ideal transformer if the primary coil of 100
turns establishes a peak flux of 1.7 mWb alternating at
frequency of 50 Hz in the core.
2. A 30 kVA, 3000/300V, 50 Hz, single phase transformer has
the following winding resistance and leakage reactance:
R1=2.5 Ω, R2=0.018 Ω, X1=3.8 Ω, X2=0.52 Ω
Calculate the following:
a. Equivalent resistance, leakage reactance, and
impedances referred to high voltage side.
b. Equivalent resistance, leakage reactance, and
impedances referred to low voltage side.
c. Total Cu-loss of the transformer at full load condition

4. A single phase 10kVA, 2000/200 V, transformer has the


following test results:
OC test (lv side): 200V,
200V 0.8A, 60W
SC test (hv side): 40V, 4A, 70W
Calculate the following
(a) The efficiency of the transformer at half load and 0.8
power factor lagging.
(b) the load kVA at which maximum efficiency occurs and
also the maximum efficiency at 0.8 power factor lag
lagging

j300Ω. The components of the excitation branch referred to the primary side are RC = 350 kΩ
and XM = 70 kΩ.. (a) If the primary voltage is 7967 V and the load impedance is ZL = 3.0 +j1.5 Ω,
what is the secondary voltage of the transformer? What is the voltage regulation of the
transformer? (b) If the load is disconnected and a capacitor of –j4.0 Ω is connected in its place,
what is the secondary voltage of the transformer? What is its voltage regulation under these
conditions?

8. A 5000-kVA 230/13.8-kV single-phase power transformer has a per-unit resistance of 1


percent and a per-unit reactance of 5 percent . The open-circuit test performed on the low-
voltage side of the transformer yielded the following data: VOC = 13.8 kV, IOC = 15.1 A, POC =
44.9 kW (a) Find the equivalent circuit referred to the low-voltage side of this transformer. (b) If
the voltage on the secondary side is 13.8 kV and the power supplied is 4000 kW at 0.8 PF
lagging, find the voltage regulation of the transformer. Find its efficiency

9. A 200-MVA, 15/200-kV single-phase power transformer has a per-unit resistance of 1.2


percent and a per-unit reactance of 5 percent The magnetizing impedance is j80 per unit. (a)
Find the equivalent circuit referred to the low-voltage side of this transformer. (b) Calculate the
voltage regulation of this transformer for a full-load current at power factor of 0.8 lagging
