Mapping
a. Explore Now what is air made up of?
Air is a mixture of many gases.
Air is present everywhere on earth. Air
is present as a thick blanket
surrounding the surface of earth.
Air is made up of :
Water vapour
Oxygen
Nitrogen
Carbon dioxide
Dust and smoke
Air contains mostly nitrogen and
oxygen. Nitrogen occupies 21%of the
air.1% of the air is made up of carbon
dioxide, other gases, water vapor, dust
particles.
b. Enrich Oxygen in air supports burning
whereas nitrogen does not
 Air contains about 78% nitrogen and
28% oxygen.
 Plants and animals take in oxygen
and give out carbon dioxide during
respiration.
 Air contains about 0.003% of carbon
dioxide.
Carbon dioxide
 The sun heats the water in oceans
and seas. This water evaporates and
forms.
 Air contains varying amounts of
water vapour depending on the
weather of a place.
Water Vapour
the importance of survival of living
beings on this planet is air.
Now that we know the constitutions
of air. Air contains dust and smoke.
Dust and Smoke
Plants use carbon dioxide of the air to
make their own food by a process
called photosynthesis. We all need air
to survive. Air contains oxygen and
carbon dioxide useful to plants and
animals. AIR SUPPORTS LIFE .
c. Excel List five activities that are possible Ma’am our clothes can get
due the presence of air? dry because of air we can
Yes good. breathe.

a. Guided The teacher and students will

Practice perform an activity which shows
that the room is dark and there is
a small hole from which dust
particles present in the air can be
seen.

b. Independen The students have to discuss and

t Practice do the back questions in the class.
