COMPUTING WEIGTHED MEAN

The weighted mean formula is used when a data consists of

frequency. The calculation of the weighted mean is very simple and does

not require a complex method or a formula.

Formula: Where:

∑WiXi = summation of variables with weight

∑Wi = sum total of the population

COMPUTING PEARSON’S CORRELATION

The correlation between two variables reflects the degree to which

the variables are related. When computed in a sample, it is designated by
the letter "r" and is sometimes called "Pearson's r." Pearson's correlation
reflects the degree of linear relationship between two variables. It ranges
from +1 to -1. A correlation of +1 means that there is a perfect positive
linear relationship between variables.

Formula: Where:
r= ∑xy . ∑xy = summation of the two variables

√∑x 2
∑y2 ∑x2 = summation of the square of the first
variable
∑y2 = summation of the square of the second
variable
And therefore:
N (∑xy) – (∑x)(∑y)

√[ N(∑x2)-(∑x2)2] [ N(∑y2)-(∑y)2]
