Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of media and information literacy
(MIL) and MIL related concepts.
Culminating Performance Standard: The learner organizes a creative and interactive symposium for the
community focusing on being a media and information literate individual.
Power Standard: Formulate a symposium that is designed to respond to the needs and actions
that a community must do for the improvement of media and information
literacy.

through writing an editorial article and poster.

II. Learning Process:


A. Introduction
Guide Questions:
 Why is communication?
 Why do we communicate?
 How do we communicate?
1. The learners will be grouped into five (5) and will talk about their insight about “Communication.”
2. Afterwards, the learners will share their insight to the class.

B. Motivation/Review
1. The teacher will ask the learners to record their use and interaction with media and information providers.

C. Instruction/Delivery
1. The teacher will post the guide questions.
 What does literate mean?
 What do we expect from a person who is literate?
2. The teacher will explain the meaning of the subject.
3. The students will be divided into five groups. They will state their own meaning of media, information, and
technology literacy. Also, they have to state their ideas about the importance of each literacy.
4. A group representative will be asked to share their definitions and importance of the three literacies to the class.
5. The teacher together with the learners will discuss the media literacy, information and technology literacy.

1. The students will choose the type of literacy that best describes in each situation.

As human, we naturally desire for changes or for new things that will make our life better. As for an
instance, we found another way how to make communicate easier using media and technology. However,
it is our responsibility to also care for our fellow and use our wisdom for useful things only. Moreover, if
we use our skills and wisdom in good way, we will gain more wisdom from God.

 Collaboration – sharing their ideas with their group mates
 Communication – presenting their ideas to the class.
 Creativity – writing an editorial and making a poster.

Activity no. 1: Write an editorial about the influence of social media to today’s education situation.
Activity no. 2: Make a poster which emphasizes the importance of media and information literacy to an individual.
