3. CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS
The steel pipe piles for the modification jetty #64 and # 68 will be spiral welded with 4.5 mm for
corrosion allowance. The material of the steel pipe piles is referred to ASTM A-252 Grade 2 with
minimum tensile strength of 415 MPa and yield strength of 240 MPa. Chemical analysis of material
shall show that both the equivalent carbon content and total carbon content are less than 0.30 %. The
welds shall be 100 percent inspected by ultrasonic or elegtromagnetic inspection to the requirements
of ASTM A53.
The pipes joint shall be fully penetration weld. All welds shall be inspected by ultrtasonic or
electromagnetic inspection with 100 % . All weldings practice shall conform to the requirements of
American Wleding Society – Welding Code AWS D1.1-86.
The driven piles shall have a maximum tolerance of 2 % from intended batter, 1 % from intended
verticality, and variation of pile elevation shall not be more then 25 mm plus or minus.

3.2 Concrete
Grade of the concrete material for the modification jetty # 64 & # 68 is K-300 or fc’ : 249 kg/cm2.
Cementitious content should be not less than 400 kg/m3, a maximum water to binder material ratio
not more than 0.40, all marine concrete should be water-cured for at least 7 days and 14 days under
ambient conditions and curing should commence immediately after finishing horizontal surfaces. Due
to environmental condition, it is necessary to limit the crack width of structural member. i.e. concrete
floor/platform and beams. The crack width control was taken account based on the ACI committee as
presented in the following table:
3.3 Reinforcements
The reinforcement for the modification jetty #64 and # 68 is referred to ASTM A615M Grade 60, JIS
G3122 SD390 or equivalent. The total surface area of carbon steel reinforcement in marine structures
should be minimized to reduce the opportunity for corrosion by chloride-contaminated concrete. A
smaller number of large diameter bars is preferable to a larger number of small bars. Herewith, the
guidance of the use for the minimum size bars for reinforcement in Table 6.2 Minimum Bar Diameters
in Maritime Concrete Structures (Carbon Steel) from AS 4997-2005 as follows:

The stirrups bars used for ties shall not be less than 10 mm diameter and the cover for carbon steel
bars should not be less than 70 mm.
5. DESIGN LOADS
Dead loads are the weight of the structures member such in the following:
In addition to the gravity self weight of the structure and other special elements, the structure analysis
will consider additional superimposed dead loads. Bollard, fender, infill concrete, and other additional
structures will be considered as superimposed dead load
- Trestle : T-45 with front axle load of 5 ton, two rear axle with 20 ton
axle
load;
The structure should be designed to withstand loads associated with the berthing of vessels within the
design vessel range appropriate for its use. The owner, PT PERTAMIT PROCESSING, provided
target vessels particular on March 26, 2008 in doc. No. 000-T7605/001 Table-2 Vessel Particular for
Jetty #64 and #68.
The external force generated by berthing of a vessel with the following equation, referred to clause

Data for current load is referred to doc. No. 000-T7605/001, therefore the current speed for the use of
structural design as follow:

Wind speed for design of wind load on a vessel or structure is referred to doc. No. 000-T7605/001
where the wind speed is 35 m/sec at 10 m height with wind direction SE to NW for 80 % of the year.
Wind pressure on a vessel or structure should be calculated from the following equation:
Wind load on a vessel or structure should be calculated from the following equation:

Design of wave load of the marine structure should allow for the highest wave likely to occur on the
structure over the selected design life and an annual probability of exceedance based on the function
category of the facility. The annual probability of exceedance of significant wave heights, for structure
of various design lives and function categories, are shown in Table 5.4 AS 4997-2005 below:
The design wave for structures should be equivalent to H1, taken to be the average of the highest 1%
of all waves in the design strom event. H1 should be determined by applying a factor to the significant
wave height for the design storm, as follows:

Seismic design condition is that the structure will have minor damage after earthquake taken place.
This is obtained by limiting the structural deflection due to seismic load. The loading will be in static
equivalent approach:

Safe mooring load/force shall be established in accordance with the minimum breaking limits of the
total number of mooring lines to be put out to a mooring or breasthing dolphin or jetty. The number of
mooring lines will depend on the type of vessel and the maximum number of mooring lines that can be
attached to each one breasthing dolphin will depend on the optimum mooring line pattern that can be
achieved.
However, wind and current action on moored vessel/ship has been conducted under the following
procedure:
