THE PURPOSE AND PROBLEM OF THE STUDY

Technological advancements have vastly affected this generation’s way of living.


There is no question why, these major advancements in technologies make everything
more timely and beneficial to all, one can easily access bountiful information and data from
the internet alone. Despite all of these, it can be deduced that not everyone’s life has been
affected by technology. Some still prefer the classical and traditional way of life. One great
example of this is reading. Since everything became more available, some prefer reading
just from the Internet. While some still prefer reading from a real copy, one that they can
see and feel physically. For people to further understand the topic, this is where the study
comes about, The Preferred Type of Copy of 1IS-C Students.

Chapter 2

POPULATION AND QUESTIONS OF THE STUDY

The students who took part on the study were from the block 1IS-C, it is under the
Information and Computing Sciences of the University of Santo Tomas.

The main problem of the study is to determine what type of copy does 1IS-C
students prefer. Specifically, it sought to answer the following questions

1. What is the respondent’s name?


2. What is the respondent’s age?
3. Which type of copy do you prefer?
a. Book (hard copy)
b. E-book (soft copy)
4. What helped you decide to choose? ( at least 3)
a. Learning f. Updated
b. Feeling g. Environmental Concern
c. Collecting h. Sharing
d. Convenience
e. Portability

RESULTS OF THE STUDY

The result based from the survey conducted is that students of 1IS-C still prefer the
traditional way, which is a book or a hard copy of a material. Based from the chart, it is
manageable to see that those who prefer E-book or soft copy is still a lot and is still close to
half of the population.

From the different choices on whether what factor helped the respondents to
choose it is clear to see that the factor of convenience got the most number of votes, with
learning and portability coming second and third.
