Subject: REMINDER 1 — Invitation to the 4th South Asian Cities Summit on May 4-5, 2018 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi

Respected Sir,

Greetings from All India Institute of Local Self-Government!

Over 50% of the world’s population presently lives in urban areas, every city is facing challenges to meet the new Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs) which will become even more challenging due to rapid urbanisation over the next 15 years. The New
Urban Agenda that responds to these challenges devised a well-articulated set of strategies to transform urbanisation as a tool of
development at city and country level now needs to be implemented.

Realising this potential with a holistic view in providing sustainable & live-able solutions for cities, All India Institute of Local Self-
Government, and United Cities and Local Governments Asia Pacific along with other National & International stakeholders are
organizing the 4th South Asian Cities (SAC) Summit 2018 on ‘New Urban Agenda & Localizing SDGs’ on May 4-5, 2018 at India
Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The Summit will convene a high‐profile gathering of national, international, state and local government
officials, utilities, policy makers, financiers, technologists, non-profit organizations, business leaders, academicians, researchers and
community organizations – all with a common focus on implementing and monitoring strategies at the local level for achieving
global, national and sub national sustainable development targets. It will further focus on what the 2030 Agenda means for cities
and how they can contribute in achieving the SDGs. The summit is expected to be graced by the presence of Union Minister of
Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Secretary MoHUA, Union Minister MSDE, Secretary MSDE, Mayors from various cities of
South Asia, and more than 300 delegates internationally.
