INTRODUCTION AND REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

Marketing is a philosophy whose main focus is providing customer

satisfaction. Marketing is the activity, set of institutions, and processes for creating,

communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers,

clients, partners and society at large. Also included in the definition are all of the

activities that help businesses reach their target market effectively. Marketing is NOT

just personal selling or even just advertising. Most people define marketing in a very

limited way. Marketing includes activities such as public relations, sales promotion,

advertising, social media, pricing, distribution and many other functions. Marketing is

an important business process where you inform, attract and convince people that

your products or services are of value to them.

Digital marketing encompasses all marketing efforts that use an electronic

device or internet. Digital marketing includes: social media marketing, content

marketing, search engine optimization, search engine marketing, pay per-click

advertising, affiliate marketing, email marketing, radio advertising, television

advertising and mobile phone advertising. Traditional marketing is a huge sized

category which includes all forms of advertising and marketing. This marketing has

been in use by companies for years, and that has a proven success rate. Traditional

marketing includes: signage, billboards, direct mail, flyers and brochures, face-to-face

interaction, print ads, telemarketing, event marketing and salespeople.

According to Gleeson (2018), marketing isn't simply an important part of

business success -- it is the business. Everything else in the business depends upon

marketing. Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks and several media and

entertainment companies, puts it as succinctly as possible: "No sales. No company”.

The term "marketing" covers a lot of different activities – all associated with selling

your company's products and services. Advertising is the most obvious marketing

activity, but so is consumer research, which better matches your product to consumer

wants and needs. Product design, also, is a form of marketing, as it helps match your

company's products and services to known customer needs. The one thing that

marketing is not, in the opinion of some marketing professionals, is the sales act itself,

which is the result of marketing.

According to Gross (2016), marketing is one of the most important things a

business can do. Not only does marketing build brand awareness but it can also

increase sales, grow businesses and engage customers. There are so many core

business functions that stem from a good marketing plan that any SMB would be silly

not to give it a shot. Marketing is important because it helps you sell your products or

services. The bottom line of any business is to make money and marketing is an

essential channel to reach that end goal. Creativs explained that without marketing

many businesses wouldn’t exist because marketing is ultimately what drives sales.

helps you develop products and services in your business that meet the needs of your

target market. Good marketing helps your customers understand why your product or

service is better than, or different from, the competition. A good marketing plan can

increase your bottom line. It's often required when seeking funding and helps you set

clear, realistic and measurable objectives for your business. Developing a marketing

plan requires research, time and commitment, but is a very valuable process that can

greatly contribute to your business success.

According to Jagtap(2018), marketing is the most important part of any

business. Marketing is always helpful for building brand awareness as well as

increase your sales and engage customers. In these days Digital Marketing has

changed the way of business. Today most of the businesses are following the digital

strategy for promoting their products and services. They are offering their products

through online medium. They have increased their sales with the help of effective

digital marketing channels. Marketing has created lots of employment opportunities

for unemployed persons. World’s large number of the people have involved in the

field of marketing. Marketing is the only sector which is growing rapidly. Today there

are so many functions of core marketing like buying, selling, financing, transporting,

etc. Thus marketing gives employment to many people. Worlds 40% of total

population is directly or indirectly dependent on marketing.

the soul of any business. The way you communicate and interact with your audience

builds up your brand identity and is ultimately what paves the way for customers to

make purchases. Engagement in-person is critical but today's customers don't always

visit store locations and even when they do, they want to be engaged beyond those

four walls.

According to Netinspire (2016), with billboards beaming call to actions as well

as window displays enticing us to approach their stores, it’s never ending and maybe

that’s a beneficial advantage. This form of marketing catches us when we are unaware

and potentially this may result in a sporadic purchase. Another factor to consider is

the benefit of face to face contact. We all have experienced people trying to sell on

our doorsteps, this human interaction could save us money if the product is something

that we desire. Newspapers are another way that advertisers like to reach their

audience by. It is called tangibility offers which refer to ads or products that readers

come to contact in during their spare time.

traditional marketing consist for promoting and advertising any kind of

business/service in the local marketing through going door to door, putting pamphlet

on roadside, hoarding, newspaper and brochure distributing. These are the parts of

Traditional Marketing which are indeed costly and massive workplace that needs lots

of physical energy as mental energy to do all these specific things to promote one’s

business.

According to Mcrill(2017), traditional marketing uses static text or advertising

commercials to promote a product. If an ad is placed in the newspaper, it can't change

until you place another ad. For example, if you have a sale on bicycles that you put in

the newspaper and then you run out of bicycles, you may have many unhappy

customers. On the other hand, on the Internet you can instantly update your page to let

people know your bicycles are "sold out”.

the local audience. Radio is definitely the best option and the quickest way to

advertise your business and put across your message. Lack of time to update message:

In traditional marketing, you will not get time to respond to the changes you wish to

make in the advertisement as compared to the new modern online marketing. In the

traditional advertisement, you need to prepare your ad well in advance even though if

you want to publish your ad in the daily newspaper. While by using the internet, small

businessmen can easily change their ad in a few minutes.

Scope and Limitation

This study all about the advantages of digital marketing strategy and

traditional. This study will give knowledge to the future entrepreneurs. This includes

the knowledge of the respondents on how to run a business. This will show how they

can adopt the new marketing strategy.

The researchers limit the study to 20 participants who owns a business. The

respondents are ranging from 30-45 years old and within Plaza Burgos Guagua

Pampanga. The researchers will find information and facts about the advantage of

digital and traditional marketing strategy.

This study is important because this will give information to those who wants

to build or who are planning to start a business. This will serve as their guide in

choosing the right marketing strategy. This study will benefit the following:

This study will surely help them to decide on what marketing strategy they will going

to use.

To the future entrepreneurs- this will serve as their basis in putting up a business. This

study will be an instrument to make them know on what path their going to take.

To the Employees- this will benefit the employees because this will help them to

Definition of terms

Marketing- refers to activities undertaken by a company to promote the

buying or selling of a product or service. Marketing includes the advertising, selling

and delivering of products to consumers or other businesses.

Promotion- refers to any type of marketing communication used to inform or

persuade target audiences of the relative merits of a product, service, brand or issue.

Marketing strategy- is a business's overall game plan for reaching people and

Advertising- is the attempt to influence the buying behavior of customers or

clients with a persuasive selling message about products and/or services.

Digital marketing- is the marketing of products or services

using digital technologies, mainly on the Internet, but also including mobile phones,

display advertising, and any other digital medium.

Traditional marketing- refers to any type of promotion, advertising or

campaign that has been in use by companies for years, and that has a proven success

rate.

Business- is defined as an organization or enterprising entity engaged in

commercial, industrial, or professional activities.

Consumer- an individual who buys products or services for personal use and

not for manufacture or resale. A consumer is someone who

can make the decision whether or not to purchasean item at the store, and someone

who can be influenced by marketing and advertisements.

Merchandising- is the marketing and promotion of a product, good, or

service within a distribution chain.

Entrepreneur- a person who organizes and operates a business or businesses,

taking on greater than normal financial risks in order to do so.

Target Market- is a group of consumers or organizations most likely to buy a

company’s products or services.

Planning- the process of making plans for something.

Quantitative research is used to quantify the problem by way of gathering

numerical data or data that can be transformed intobusable statistics. It is used to

quantify attitudes, opinions, behaviors and other defined variables and generalize

results from a larger sample population. Quantitative research uses measurable data to

formulate facts and uncover patternsbin research.

This study is a quantitative research because the researchers are going to use

statistical, mathematical, or numerical analysis of data through survey questionnaires.

The researchers uses quantitative research because they will focus on the opinions,

behaviors and other variables and not on in-depth understanding and experiences of

the respondents.

Type of Research

Descriptive research is a quantifiable method that attempts to collect

quantifieble information to be used fpr statistical analysis of the sample papulation.

Descriptive research primarily focuses on describing the nature of a demographic

segment, without focusing on "why" a certain phenomenon occurs. It describes the

subject of the research without covering why it happens.The researchers use

descriptive research as their type of research because it deals with everything that can

be counted and measured which has an impact on people. It is descriptive research

because it described what is qoing on or exists.

Respondents of the study

The study will be conducted in Plaza Burgos Guagua Pampanga. The research

needed 10 respondents who owns a business to answer the survey questionnaires. The
