Constraints
In building construction, the cost/expense of structure is critical to considered, as
a factor that the client will have the capacity to give in setting up the project. The
building should to be configuration in light of the client`s financial plan. In this
Economical Constraint project there two trade off to be considered and this trade -off gives distinctive
basic outline which implies that those two will give diverse volume and this
concrete volume gives distinctive cost. Cost estimate of structural elements
(cement, sand, gravel and reinforcing bars).

The time duration is a factor to be considered in the evaluation of the two trade-
off. The client want to finish the building right away and based on the design to
be needed.

The time duration of the building is reflecting and pressured based on how the
building is to be constructed in given trade-offs. Since there are two trade-offs
there are also two different process of constructing the building, it is based on
Constructability Constraint how it will be done in man hour per design. These constraints is considered, first
is for immediate occupancy and another is that, the building is constructed
adjacent to the existing building of the owner and it might disturb the occupants
on the said building, the building should be finish as much as possible.

Sustainability constraint takes into account the problem on how long the design
life of a project is with respect to its design strength. One of the basic ideas in
engineering design is that with greater design strength, there is an equivalent
increase in cost due to the need of higher quality material. Since three of the trade-
Sustainability Constraint offs has an years life span due to the same mixture and also both of them will be
cast off-site, the tendency is that both of them will be cured properly and will be
wobble well through use of vibrator machines, there subordinate rank will be
equivalent to its governing rank which is 10.

Tradeoffs
The BEARING PILE (HP-shape) is almost identical to the W-shape. The only
Trade-off 1: HP Shape difference is that the flange thickness and web thickness of the bearing pile are
equal, whereas the W-shape has different web and flange thicknesses. The S-
SHAPE (American Standard I-beam) is distinguished by its cross section being
shaped like the letter I. S-shapes are used less frequently than W-shapes since
the S-shapes possess less strength and are less adaptable than W-shapes.
S shape is a rolled section with two parallel flanges connected by a web. S shapes have
relatively narrow flanges. The designation of the S shape gives information about the width
Trade-off 2: S Shape
and weight per unit length. For example S12 X 50 means 12 inches depth and 50 pounds
per foot weight per unit length

The W-shape has parallel inner and outer flange surfaces with a constant thickness,
while the S-shape has a slope of approximately 17' on the inner flange surfaces.
The C-shape is similar to the S-shape in that its inner flange surface is also sloped
Trade-off 3: W Shape approximately 17'. The W-SHAPE is a structural member whose cross section
forms the letter H and is the most widely used structural member. It is designed so
that its flanges provide strength in a horizontal plane, while the web gives strength
in a vertical plane. W-shapes are used as beams, columns, truss members, and in
other load-bearing applications.

Standards
American Society for Testing The quality of ASTM testing standards is such that they are frequently used
and Materials worldwide. At CMTL the Quality Program is the driving force for all of our business
operations. This quality system model determines our administrative duties, directs
all technical activities, and manages all issues related to compliance testing,
sampling and specimen traceability.

The National Structural Code Also known as Presidential Decree No. 1096 was formulated and adopted as a
of the Philippines uniform building code to embody up-to-date and modern technical knowledge on
building design, construction, use, occupancy and maintenance. The Code provides
for all buildings and structures, a framework of minimum standards and
requirements to regulate and control location, site, design, and quality of materials,
construction, use, occupancy, and maintenance.

ASEP Steel Handbook 2004 Is intended primarily to serve as a guide in the selection and use of locally-available
vol.1 – Dimensions and structural steel products.
