Narrator: Hi Kids! My name is Floretta! If you want to learn about the different parts of a plant, then you are in the
right place! Please enter your name and click the start button to begin the lesson.

Narrator: Did you know that each part of the plant has a different name and function? Well at the end of this lesson
you will be able to:
1: Identify and name the different parts of the plant
2. Describe the functions of each part

This scene stimulates recall. Users will click on the
items that are plants to show that they recognize
how a plant looks.

Narrator: Before we start, do you know how a plant looks? Select the items that you think are plants by clicking the
circles beside them. When you are done, Click the right arrow to proceed.

5 The Roots
Narrator: The first part that we will identify is the root. Roots hold the plant together in the ground and supply the plant
with water and minerals to stay alive! Isn’t that amazing?
6 The Stem
Carries water & Arrow pointing to the stem will blink to direct
minerals from the user’s attention to the part

Narrator: The next part is the stem. The stem carries water and other minerals from the roots to the rest of the plant.
Think of it as drinking through a straw!
7 The Leaf
Narrator: Leaves are usually green in color. They absorb the air and light to produce the food that the plant needs to
live. They do this through a process called Photosynthesis! Learn more about Photosynthesis in the resources tab.

8 The Flower
Makes seeds that FLOWER Arrow pointing to the flower will blink to direct
grow into new plants user’s attention
Narrator: The flower makes seeds that grow into new plants. The flower attracts birds or bees that help to spread the
seeds!

8 Plant variety
Narrator: Plants have different sizes, shapes and colours. Take a look at some of the differences and the next time
you go outside try and identify the parts you just learned!
