First we will review how to cite a book. Looking at

and stop there. But many books will have a subtitle

month and year with no commas separating them.

MLA citation style. Since the librarian is not always

night, it is useful to know of some resources you
can use to look up any questions that may arise.
MLA, which stands for Modern Language
Association, is the organization that designed and
MLA Resources basically invented MLA format. They came up with
the rules for citations. So this book is the original
source and has all the information you could
possibly hope for on MLA style. The eighth edition
is the most recent edition, so make sure you are
using the most current version. The rules have
changed since the 7th edition and if you use the old
edition to make your citations, they will be
incorrect. The library has several copies of this
book, which you can check out, so feel free to
borrow it.

You are familiar with NoodleTools already, but

haven’t yet heard of the Purdue OWL, make a note
of it now. This is a well-known website for
checking on citation styles. They are known as
experts, and it is a common resource used by very
MLA Resources many people. They have explanations and
examples on how to make many different types of
citations, including odd ones, such as how to cite a
NoodleTools Twitter post, an email, and a tv episode on Netflix.
