Transfer Goal/s
The students in the long run and on their own will be able to critically conceptualize and plan a
community engagement project in the future applying the different concepts and perspectives of a
community and realize its value in dealing with others harmoniously as God’s creation.

Essential Understanding
Students will understand that concepts and perspectives of communities are important in dealing
with people of diverse origin and in understanding the totality of community as stewards of God’s
masterpiece.

Essential Questions
1. Why do people need to understand the diverse communities present in the world?

The teacher will present random pictures in the community.
The teacher will ask the students to analyse the picture.
The teacher will ask random students to share their analysis of the picture.

The teacher will utilize Socratic dialogue in asking questions to the students.
The teacher will ask questions like, “How do you see yourself in the community that you are
in right now?”
The teacher will ask random students to answer the question presented.
II. Lesson Development
A. Presentation of Concepts
The students will know…
The different structures or aspects of community as one of its vital element.
The dynamics and processes of a community in a diverse world.

Distinguish the different structures or aspects of community as one of its vital element.
Conduct an individual interview in their local community about their opinions on the
different dynamics and processes of the community.
Activities:
a. The goal of the day will be presented by the teacher thru power point
presentation.
b. The teacher will ask the students to brainstorm about John Donne’s claim that, “No
man is an island”.
c. The teacher will ask the students to Think-Pair-Share about the importance of
every aspect in the community to its people.
B. Broadening of Concept
 How do the structures of community affect its people?
 How do the people adhere to the dynamics and processes of the community?
C. Integration
a. Ignacian Core: Faith.
Related Values: Communion. Have you ever wonder why there are still people who
loves helping despite the tragedies that this world can offer?
b. Social Orientation: The Natives of Bukidnon. Ancestral Domain. Do you think the
natives who are roaming around the city these days like the way we live our lives
here?
c. Lesson Across Discipline: Civil Law. Property Relations. How do powerful people
obtain their vast lands?
d. Faith/Biblical Reflection: Matthew 7:12 “Do unto others what you would have them
do unto you.” What do you think is the connection of this scriptural text to the lesson
we have today?
III. Evaluation / Assessment
The teacher will ask the students to interview five people in their own community and
ask them to describe the community structure based on the following factors:
1. Demographics (population and ethnic groups)
2. Beliefs and Attitudes (cultural, spiritual, and political values and traditions)
3. Local Economy and Businesses (employment)
The students will then summarize and reflect on their responses. Output shall be
encoded in a long bond paper with their summary and refection. (Rubric will be
distributed as signed by the respective signatories)
IV. Summary/Action:
Together with the teacher, random students will share what they have understood from
the discussion answering the question, “How does the different structures of
community affect its members?”
V. Purposive Assignment:
 The students will be asked to search about the economic status of Makati answering the
following questions:
1. What is the economic status of Makati?
2. What particular aspects/structures of the community makes Makati what it is right
now?
 Write a one-paragraph analysis about the economic progress of Makati.
