II. TOPIC: OVERVIEW OF LANGUAGE EDUCATION

III. DESCRIPTION:

- This report is going to discuss the Overview of Language Education and its types. Also
Language Education is one of the process and acquiring a second or foreign language.

IV. OBJECTIVES:

- This report aims to define, classify, and know the different types of Language Education and
its characteristics. The characteristics Sets people apart from all other creatures.

V. CONTENT

- Language like culture, that other most human attribute, is notable for its unity in diversity.
According to this criterion of mutual intelligibility, there are about seven thousand distinct
languages in the world today. This number is constantly increasing because new world’s
languages emerge every day and Sets people apart from all other creatures.
- It is impossible to separate language from literature, or politics, or most of our everyday
human interactions.
- Language, being a human activity, is social in nature. Linguistic, is usually classified as a
social science.
- Language is primarily spoken and written language and is an imperfect reflection of spoken
language, conveyed through fairly new and imperfect technology, writing.
- Languages appear to be equal in their expressive capacities. Some languages may have more
words than other or may have words for certain notion that are not conventionalized in other
languages but no language is inherently incapable of expressing a given proposition.

THERE ARE FOUR MAIN LEARNING CATEGORIES OF LANGUAGE EDUCATION
1. Communicative Competencies – a language learner is asked what they think the goal of
a language course is, and to teach the grammar and vocabulary of the language.
2. Proficiencies – is the ability of an individual to speaks or perform the language.
3. Cross-Cultural Experiences – culture and language are inseparable, and cultures as
groups adopt particular practices and norms of behaviours.
4. Multiple Literacy – is the ability to communicate effectively in any form.

BENEFITS OF LEARNINGLANGUAGE EDUCATION

- Higher self – esteem & self confidence, Increase Cognitive stimulation, Increase problem
solving and Creativity, Appreciation for Diversity, Higher levels of Engagement and Fewer
Disciplinary Referral.

VI. REFLECTION/ CONCLUSION

There is much more to be said about the unity in diversity of human languages. All language are
manifestation of the single phenomenon, language, that most characteristics of human attributes.
