Immigration NZ likely to miss ‘two weeks’

n news that can bring more
disappointment to possibly 1200
applicants who have been eagerly
hoping to be lucky and be notified by
Immigration New Zealand for re-
opening of their cases by December
2, the Minister for Immigration Iain
Lees-Galloway has indicated that
they might miss the deadline again,
hopefully for the better.
The new ETA of the much-awaited
re-opening of declined partnership
visa applications will be by the
end of the year and not December
2 contrary to a previous assurance
given by the Immigration Minister
Mr Lees-Galloway on November 13.
The Minister had then assured
that INZ would be able to contact a
core group of applicants who could
potentially be re-assessed under
the newly announced culturally
arranged marriage visa category by
December 2.
Notably, ever since the Minister
had earlier announced that INZ will
potentially contact 1200 partnership
visa applicants for re-opening of
their cases, and leaving another 1300
partnership visa applicants who have
also been recently declined who have
to decide for themselves to weather
re-apply under new instructions
on culturally arranged marriage
visa category, there has been much
uncertainty in the community.
However, when Minister was
asked by The Indian Weekender to
confirm if INZ will be able to keep
the deadline of December 2, when
all applicants will be informed either
way the Minister clearly refused to
give that certainty.
“I would love to give that level of
certainty, but all of these things when
you have to put them into operation,
take some time.
“I am not going to put that firm
deadline to it,” Mr Lees-Galloway
said.
“I would say if you have not heard
from Immigration New Zealand by
the end of the year then probably the
ball is in your court to think about
whether you want to re-apply or not,”
Mr Lees Galloway said.

cricket-diplomacy were some of the
key focus areas of the Indian High
Commissioner’s whirlwind tour of Christchurch
and Auckland – the largest cities of South and
North Island – over the last weekend. 
Indian High Commissioner Muktesh
Pardeshi was on a two-day visit to Christchurch
on Friday-Saturday, November 22-23, before
travelling for a day-long engagement in
Auckland on Monday, November 25. 
In between the trip to these two cities, Mr
Pardeshi also had the opportunity of joining
dignitaries at the official opening ceremony
of Wellington Diwali Festival on Sunday,
November 24.
Expressing satisfaction on the outcome of
the hectic tour to New Zealand’s main urban

Emphasising on the focus of enhancing
bilateral trade between New Zealand and India,
Mr Pardeshi and Mr Dhillon also met with
Auckland Business Chambers CEO, Michel
Barnett, on Monday, November 25. 
Auckland Business Chambers is 160-year-
old business-body and is New Zealand’s largest

Third annual Ara All Nations

T20 Cricket Festival starts

twelve teams in 2019, the
All Nations Cricket Festival
has witnessed massive growth
and contribution from the local
sportsmen and cricket enthusiasts in
Christchurch.
Sponsored by Ara Institute of
Canterbury, the festival kicked off on
Sunday, November 24 at the Hagley
Park, where twelve matches were
held in the Round 1 of the tournament.
The next round, semi-final and final
will be held on Sundays, December 1
and 8 respectively.
The cricket festival is delivered
in partnership between Christchurch
Metro Cricket, the Christchurch
Multicultural Council and the
Christchurch City Council to
promote unity in diversity through
cricket.
“We have had a record number
of entries this year as the festival
continues to grow each year,”
Mike Harvey, General Manager of
Christchurch Metropolitan Cricket
Association said.
The twelve teams divided into
Pool A and B are Afghan XI, 11
Kings of Punjab, Tamil Pasanga,
Doon Tiger Club, Cornered Tigers,
Afghan Fine Legs, Firangi XI,
Action Indoor Sports Central, Nepal
Everest Warriors, PlaceMe, Pakistan
Falcons, and Strikers.
“We have players from different
ethnic backgrounds such as Indian
origin, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal,
Sri Lankans, English and Kiwi
descent,” Mr Harvey told The Indian
Weekender.

22nd Spirit of Cricket tournament
kicks off December 1

he Relianz Forex Spirit of Cricket
tournament is starting this weekend
with more than 250 players from eleven
teams participating in the game.
Started in 1998, the tournament has seen
an overwhelming growth every year- some of
the key players from the early days are still
associated with this tournament as organisers,
match officials and supporters.
The eleven teams competing in this
tournament are Mighty Blues (the defending
champions), AIS United (2018 runner-up),
former champion Probasee Bengalee, Deccan
Acers, Rising Stars, NZ Telugu Tigers, Black
Hawks, Royal Knights, Tamil Thunders,
Telangana City Boyz and founder TUFXI.
The tournament is hosted by Migrant
Community Cricket Club, and the daily running
is carried out by the winners of the previous
year, which will be Mighty Blues this year.
With more than 250 players, umpires,
scorers, and organisers couple with the support
of various community organisations makes this
tournament unique and the longest-running
tournament in the country.
The tournament will kick-off December 1
with four games every Sunday for the next four
months with the semi-finals and final on the last
two Sundays of March 2020.

In general, most rental properties are
well looked after and many renters get
on well with their landlords but there are
also some problem tenants and some very
poor quality rental properties. We need a
balances approach to ensure that everyone
is treated fairly.
Both landlords and renters I talk to agree
that strong and stable tenancies are better
for everyone.
I am very pleased that our Government
announced last week that we’re
modernising the rules around rental
properties to enable renters and landlords
more certainty.
Up to now landlords have not had to provide
renters a reason for ending their tenancy.  We’re
changing that and helping renters stay in the
same home longer by getting rid of no-cause
lease terminations.  Employers need to provide
a reason for getting rid of a worker and the
same will apply to landlords.
To protect landlords, they will still have
a right to evict tenants who are consistently
late with their rent, who abuse the property
or act illegally or anti-socially. However
good tenants who treat their rental property
with respect who pay their rent on time
should have the peace of mind that they
can settle in longer term.

consents are at a 45 year high as we
have increased our state house building
programme to about 4 houses a day.

he issue of safety is one that was often
raised with me in the lead up to the
2017 General Election. Indian New
Zealanders were particularly concerned with
spikes in aggravated robberies in dairies, liquor
stores and petrol stations.
I’m incredibly proud that the Coalition
government took the issue of safety seriously
and responded with a number of measures to
improve safety. One of those commitments
- to add 1800 new Police officers to frontline
policing - was achieved last Friday with the
graduation of 59 new constables from the
Royal New Zealand Police College.
In total, 1825 new Police have been deployed
all over the country since October 2017. The
total Police workforce is now the largest it has
ever been, and expected to surpass 14,000 by
early 2020. There is also a conscious focus on
increasing the diversity of our Police force. In
this latest wing, there are 11 officers who are
overseas born who speak 10 languages other
than English.
The Coalition Agreement made a strong
commitment to the increasing of new Police
officers to help fight against organised crime and
to build safer and more connected communities
and that is exactly what we are delivering on.

approach to Police recruitment to increase
numbers whilst ensuring that quality of

funded safety measures that have benefitted 500
small businesses. As a result, there has been a
marked reduction in aggravated robberies,
financial loss, and injuries to shop workers.
Since April 2017 the number of commercial
aggravated robberies has fallen by 40 per cent.
Serious injuries have fallen by 41 per cent and
more than 1100 offenders have been caught.
The coalition government is also focussed
on other ways to improve community safety
and prevent crime. In addition to training extra
Police, we are targeting organised crime such
as gangs behind the methamphetamine trade,
disrupting transnational crime and tightening
controls on firearms. Police are also committed
to reducing family harm, reducing the road
toll and responding to increased mental health
callouts. The safety of our communities is a key
priority for this government.

Indian man found dead
in Christchurch

n Indian man was found dead
in his house by his flat mates
in Christchurch on Sunday,
November 17.
The police have identified the
man  as  Bala  Murugan Murugesan,
33, who worked as a chef at a popular
restaurant in Christchurch.  in his room, and his body was
Mr Murugeshan hailed from a
small town in Madurai in Chennai,
South India and came to New Zealand
earlier in February this year. He was
on a three-year Essential Skills Work
Visa that is due to expire at the end of
2021. Mr Murugan is survived by his
wife and five-year-old daughter living
in India.

Family to repatriate body of Indian
student pilot killed in crash

he family of the student
pilot from India who died
in the light-plane crash near
Christchurch last week has travelled
from India to collect the body of
their beloved.
Police officially released the name
23-year-old Ramprakash Srikumar,
who came to New Zealand to train
as a commercial pilot.
The plane Ramprakash flying
belonged to the Canterbury Aero
Club. Ramprakash joined the Club
about a year ago and was training
here with the goal of flying a
commercial airline someday in
India.
Ramprakash was doing night
flying exercise when the incident
happened. He was flying Cessna
172 plane when it went down on
Thursday night, November 21,
crashing into the dry lakebed of
Te Waihora/Lake Ellesmere near
Motukurara, south of Christchurch.
“Ramprakash’s parents and
younger brother have travelled
from their hometown in Chennai,
India on Monday, November 25 to
collect his body,” Vijay Nainamalai,
president of Canterbury Indian
Tamil Association told The Indian

“Evidently, the family and friends
of the deceased are devastated with
this tragic incident, and the family

Capital’s Diwali draws wider

ellington Diwali 2019, the biggest
community event outside Auckland
and the second biggest in New
Zealand attracted more than 15,000 people to
the event on Sunday, November 24.
Hosted at TSB Bank Arena and Shed 6,
the event stadium flocked as soon as opened
for public at 1:30 p.m. with men, women and
children of different ethnicities, many of whom
clad in ethnic Indian wear to enjoy the event.
The festivity of the day commenced with
Bollywood dance numbers performed by
school-going children which boosted the
enthusiasm and energy inside the Arena.
A band of drummers and percussionists
played the folk music leading the VIPs, guests
and members of parliament to the stage for the
official ceremony.
A priest from Wellington temple started the
official event with the ceremonial lighting of
the lamps by inviting the guests and chanted
prayers officiating the event.
Present at the VIP ceremony were Minister of
Finance Grant Robertson, Executive Director of
Asia New Zealand Foundation Simon Draper,
Labour MP Paul Eagle, High Commissioner
of India Muktesh Pardeshi, National MPs
Christopher Bishop, Nicola Willis, Wellington
City Council Councillors Nicola Young, Jill
Day, Iona pannett, Fleur Fitzsimons and Doss
Jeyakumar from Indian High Commission.
“In the last eight weeks, I have had the
privilege of attending more than eight
Diwali celebratory across New Zealand,”
High Commissioner of India, Mr Muktesh
Pardeshi said.
“It feels special that so many Diwali events
are held here in New Zealand, at community
organisations, temples, events like this and
ATEED Diwali festival in Auckland,” Mr
Pardeshi added.
The official ceremony was followed by
an array of classical and folk Indian dance
performances that showed the diversity of
Indian classical music and dance and its rich
history.
It was fascinating to witness a more
significant presence of wider Wellingtonians,
from different ethnic backgrounds who dressed
to the occasion and came with their families in
ethnic Indian wears.
“I could see so many Kiwi families at the
event – more than I have ever seen in this event
in the previous year who looked fascinated with
the performances, some of whom even danced
to the music from the stage,” a visitor at the
event said.
“It was delightful to see that the event has
been so successful in reaching out to the wider
Kiwi community and not just Indians,” they
added.
As the evening progressed, the Arena got
busier with visitors who settled themselves on
either side of the balcony on the first floor after
filling the ground floor seating space.
A variety of Bollywood, hip-hop, folk and
classical performances involving hundreds of
talented dancers kept the audiences glued to the
seats till the event ended around 9 p.m.
Several dancers from different parts of North
Island, namely Auckland, Tauranga, Palmerston
North, Hamilton travelled to Wellington to
perform at the annual event.
One thing that stood out from other events
was seeing the children dancing in front of the
stage while performers dazzled different dance
moves on the stage.
“It was so beautiful to see children as young
as four years old imitating dance moves of the
performers near the stage freely jumping and
dancing while their parents sat witnessing them
enjoy in the spectator seats behind them,” a
visitor said.
The Wellington Hindi School organised a
children’s activity at the venue engaging them
in cultural activities and educating about Diwali
and the Indian culture.
The Indian Weekender, the only ethnic media
partner of the event, presented a cultural,
folk and hip-hop mix dance performance.
The performance was in collaboration with
‘Grandiose – The Creative Company’ from
Auckland, the dancers who travelled to
Wellington to enthrall the audience.
“We presented the theme dance ‘Padharo
Mare Des’ which was a fusion of folk, classical,

K
ashika Lal had a thrill for dancing
for the very age of four and has been
pursuing her passion for the last two
years that earned her a ‘Class Award’ from
Royal Academy of Dance in Auckland.
Proud parents of Kashika say they cannot
be happier seeing the six-year-old girl earning
such a prestigious award after clearing her
Ballet dance exams (Pre-Primary in Dance)
earlier this year, the medal and certificate of
which just arrived last week, all the way from
the United Kingdom.
The Royal Academy of Dance, which was
established in the UK in 1920, is one of the
largest and most influential dance education
organisations in the world. Ballet is one of the
highly technical forms of dance with its own
vocabulary based on French terminology.
Kashika is the eldest of two daughters and
started dancing and imitating dance seeing the
TV videos right from the very beginning.
“We had a Ballet school next to our home in
Auckland, and Kashika would say, she would
be fascinated to see the Ballet dancers’ dresses
and sometimes would also see the Ballet

Seeing her enthusiasm for dance, the parents
enrolled her in the next-door Ballet School,
Royal Academy of Dance at the age of four and
she has been learning Ballet ever since.
“Kashika has been learning and training in
Ballet every week for the last two years,” Mr
Lal added.
The annual exam was held at Hawkins
Entertainment Theatre in August this year, and
Kashika passed the test with distinction in her
age category (Junior, up to Year 2) and earlier
this week, she received the Class Award medal
and the certificate.

there – that’s another cost that gets passed on to
Kiwi businesses and ultimately, Kiwi consumers.
Piling on costs like this hurts the businesses and
consumers who can afford it the least. This Labour-
led Government is slowing New Zealanders down

they can make. New Zealanders just can’t afford
this Government.
Conversely, giving businesses the confidence
to invest in new staff, take risks and grow their
businesses while remaining competitive benefits

If we’re elected in 2020, National will restore
our economy with our positive economic plan.
We’ll go to war on unnecessary regulations
and unashamedly focus on growth. We will index
tax brackets to inflation, introduce more flexible
labour laws, encourage the flow of investment
into New Zealand businesses, progress RMA
reform, not implement any new taxes in our first
term and we’ll revive our economy so that we can
lift our aspirations.
The economy isn’t everything, but it’s
important. A strong economy is what enables
New Zealanders to do well, increases the chance
of finding satisfying and well-paid work and
afford to enjoy their leisure time. Kiwis deserve
a government that will focus on unlocking that
strong economy.

highlighting moments. It was a dream comes
true. I can proudly say that I studied at a school
that didn’t only push me to do better but to be
the best in what I can.

¡ IWK: What is your opinion about PBRS,
would you recommend a culinary study at
PBRS?
Chetna: My personal opinion is that PBRS
is not just a place to be for studies; it is also
an experience. They have a wide choice in the
culinary curriculum and have students from
many parts of the world. It gives aspiring chefs
a platform to compete and be innovative at the
same time in a friendly manner. I will certainly
recommend anyone interested in studying
Cookery to study at PBRS.

announced a new partnership
designed to reduce domestic
violence in member countries,

Secretary-General Patricia
Scotland on Monday signed a
memorandum of understanding
with the NO MORE Foundation,
a global movement of 1,400 allied
organisations and 40 international
chapters working together to stop
and prevent domestic violence and
sexual assault.
The two parties have agreed to work
together to implement initiatives that
work on the prevention of domestic
violence and sexual abuse as part
of wider efforts to achieve the 2030
sustainable development goals.

The Indian
satellite, Cartosat-3, is a third-
generation earth observation satellite
with very high resolution. Apart from
its use in mapping, the satellite data
will have uses in urban planning,
development of rural infrastructure,
and coastal and land cover analysis.
It weighed 1625kg and was placed
in a 509km polar sun-synchronous
orbit, an orbit in which the satellites
passes over a given location on Earth
at the same local mean solar time
every day.
“This is the most advanced Earth
Observation Satellite ever built by
Isro. The realisation of Cartosat-3 has
witnessed a totally new development
in every area – the payload, the
communication system, the optical
system, the sensors, and so on,” P
Kunhikrishnan, the director UR Rao
Satellite Centre in Bengaluru, said.
“The satellite has the highest
ever achieved a spatial resolution
of about a foot and that too with a
sexual and/or physical violence in
her lifetime, making it a leading
cause of death in women and girls.
Reports suggest the abuse remains
largely unreported due to impunity,
silence, stigma, fear and shame.
The Secretary-General said: "We
must say NO MORE to violence
against women and girls in both
words and action. It affects everyone:
women, men, children, persons with
disabilities and people from sexual
and gender minorities. It means we
must involve and sensitise everyone
much higher swath. The realisation
of each and every satellite is unique
and very complex. There were four
more satellites being developed
concurrently at URSC, adding to the
challenge,” Kunhikrishnan added.
Along with the Indian satellite,
the PSLV C47 also launched 13
nanosatellites commercially under a
deal negotiated by the newly created
PSU New Space India Limited.
Of the 13 nanosatellites, 12 are
earth observation satellites belonging
to the American company Planet
Labs and one a communication
testbed developed by the US
Analytical Space.
Isro chairperson Sivan also added
the space agency plans to complete
another 13 missions by March 2020
– of these six will be launch vehicles
and seven satellites.
“We are having 13 missions up to
March. As usual, our hands are full
and as usual the team Isro will meet
the challenge,” Sivan said.

S.P. Velumani, Minister for Municipal Administration, Rural Development

In a tweet, Velumani said green belts will be created in the city to reduce
environmental pollution and improve air quality by following the Japanese
Miyawaki system. He said as a first step, tree saplings were planted in
Kotturpuram under the Miyawaki system.
Miyawaki forest is a system of growing different kinds of trees in a
short space, reducing the space between two trees. Already corporates have
started adopting this system for dense greening in their lands.

issued on September 18. The statutory resolution moved by opposition
members to oppose the ordinance was defeated by a voice vote. The House
also rejected several amendments moved by opposition members.
Speaking on the bill, Vardhan argued that the lack of ban on tobacco
cannot be the justification for “introducing new addiction”.
To promote e-cigarettes vaping was marketed as fashionable to influence
youngsters, which will eventually lead them to addiction of intoxicant
substance, so the ban was necessary, he said.
‘Rainfall pattern changing across globe, India not
left out’
T he rainfall pattern across the globe is changing due to rapid warming
of the Indo-Pacific Ocean and the changes have brought a decline in
rainfall pattern in north India too, a study said on Wednesday.
In the study, led by Roxy Mathew Koll of the Indian Institute of Tropical
Meteorology, Pune, under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, and published in
the journal Nature, the researchers report a twofold expansion of the Indo-
Pacific warm pool -- the largest expanse of the warmest ocean temperatures
on the earth. They find that the expansion of this warm pool has altered
the most dominant mode of weather fluctuation originating in the tropics,
known as the Madden Julian Oscillation (MJO).
The changes in the MJO behaviour have increased the rainfall over
northern Australia, west Pacific, the Amazon basin, southwest Africa and
southeast Asia (Indonesia, the Philippines and Papua New Guinea).
Cabinet clears India's stance at climate change meet
T he Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved
the negotiating stand of India at the forthcoming 25th Conference of
Parties (COP) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate
Change (UNFCCC).
The meet is scheduled to be held in Madrid, Spain (under the Presidency
of Chile) from December 2-13. India will look to engage in negotiations
with a constructive and positive outlook and work towards protecting its
long-term development interests.
India has been ambitious in its actions and has emphasised that
developed countries should take lead in undertaking ambitious actions
and fulfil their climate finance commitments of mobilising $ 100 billion
per annum by 2020 and progressively and substantially scale up their
financial support to inform parties for future action through Nationally
Determined Contributions (NDC). India will further stress upon need for
fulfilling pre-2020 commitments by developed countries and that pre-2020
implementation gaps should not present an additional burden to developing
countries in the post-2020 period.

India may escape US sanctions
for buying Russian S-400

Russia successfully launches military satellite
R ussia's Soyuz-2.1V light-class carrier rocket has successfully put a
military satellite into orbit, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
The rocket lifted off from the Plesetsk spaceport in Russia's northern
Arkhangelsk Region at 8.52 p.m. local time on Monday, Xinhua quoted the
ministry as saying in a statement.
The satellite is meant to monitor the functioning of other satellites and
take pictures of the Earth's surface, it said.
This is the fifth launch of the Soyuz-2 launch vehicle carried out this year
from the Plesetsk. The previous launch was carried out on September 26.
US to press NATO allies on burden sharing
at London summit

he US will highlight the progress on burden sharing, security and
defence cooperation as well as the future development of the North
Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) during the upcoming summit, said the
US State Department.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will join the US delegation led by
President Donald Trump to attend the NATO Leaders Meeting on December
3-4, Xinhua quoted the US State Department as saying.
The leaders of NATO members will gather to commemorate the alliance's
70th anniversary in London next week, while the bloc's unity has been
widely questioned. The Trump administration has repeatedly complained
about NATO allies' free-riding on the US military. Besides, there are
disagreements within the alliance over the Iran nuclear issue, Turkey's
operations in northern Syria as well as the Nord Stream 2 pipeline project
between Germany and Russia.

more extreme: Study
H uman-induced climate change has made El Ninos, La Ninas, and the
climate phenomenon that drives them more extreme in the industrial
age, new research has found. With greater intensity, these events can worsen
storms, drought, and coral bleaching in El Nino years.
The findings, published in the journal Geophysical Review Letters,
showed compelling evidence in the Pacific Ocean that the stronger El Ninos
are part of a climate pattern that is new and strange.
"What we're seeing in the last 50 years is outside any natural variability. It
leaps off the baseline. Actually, we even see this for the entire period of the
industrial age," said the study's principal investigator Kim Cobb, Professor
at Georgia Institute of Technology in the US.
"There were three extremely strong El Nino-La Nina events in the 50-year
period, but it wasn't just these events. The entire pattern stuck out," Cobb
said.

is difficult not to see these numerous privacy infringements as part of the
normal functioning of their business, rather than aberrations," said the report
that came out on Thursday. Google and Facebook's total revenues come
almost entirely from advertising, at 84 per cent and 98 per cent respectively.
Their information is so attractive to advertisers that the two companies are
often described as having a "duopoly" over the market in online advertising.

As a mum, how I wish, we could get our children to eat vegetables
easily without the stress. As we are often trying to talk them into
eating the veggies, it’s not easy, so I’ve tried to get the best recipe to
inspire the kids. My aim is to get the perfect balance between taste
and nutrition.

got to do with fashion. You know
my name. Not my story. You’ve
heard what I have done, not what I have been
through. A year has already passed. I was
diagnosed with Cancer last year November.
As it Marks the Anniversary of these,
moments of my life I decided to break my
silence in this suffering.
There is so many cancer aspiring posts
journals and articles, I am not going to focus
on them. Am not a hero, I am just a simple girl
who had simple dreams.
Everyone Goes through different
experiences. I will only describe a few things
to help you along, to give you a little sense
of normal. When everything else around, will
be abnormal for some time or even the rest of
your life in my case.
As

Here comes the shocker
H ow as a woman, do you deal with losing
your hair due to Chemo. As a cancer
patient, you don’t only go through internal
changes.
A lot of drastic changes happen physically
as well. As Women we take pride in our
internal and external beauty.
We are lucky to be in a country like New
Zealand. We as women get a lot of Support,
the government subsides your hair wigs for
you. Losing my hair was the hardest thing.
Going Wig shopping with my friends and
sister was helpful, for me they cheered me up.
I found people at Superior Hair quite helpful,
and a lot of Support from my Hairstylist
Kathleen Barlow from Venus Hair & Beauty,
as she styled my short hair.
I felt I was back in high school with short
hair. Just remember you also don’t need to do
this bit alone.
I know you can feel less beautiful without
hair. Some women are bold, and they rock the
no hair look with amazing make up.
Speaking of Makeup, I was really blessed
in that department as a fashion Designer
and stylist, I was already good at doing my
makeup.
So, I didn’t need to attend the look good
classes. But if you are struggling with this
aspect, cancer itself is daunting and life
changing.
The added stress of physical changes, due
to treatment can be hard to cope and can affect
self- esteem.
There are lots of Look and feel Good
classes, that run throughout New Zealand.
These classes are designed to help Women
relax and have fun, be proactive and meet
positive people. As a cancer Patient stress is
something you don’t need.
Dealing with Rotting Nails
Y
es, they didn’t tell you this was going to
be part of package.
It doesn’t happen to everyone, but one of the
side effects of Chemo Therapy is rotting nails.
You Have to deal with rotting smell constant
bleeding.
Believe me when I say I felt like a rotting
corpse, it doesn’t really help on self – esteem
levels. So, I dealt with this in my own way. Dr
Teals Epsom salt soaks helped relieve this to
some extent.
Activated charcoal soaks were great too. To
make my nails look great I decided to cover
them with Nail polish.
I wouldn’t suggest going to a nail Spa,
rather do it yourself at home.
As you are more prone to catching infection
in a spa, due to low immunity. I also used
funky colored plasters on my fingers when my
nails were bleeding.
Lash Today Gone Tomorrow
L ash and eyebrows fall out during
treatment, but we have handy eye pencil
to help draw the bro lines. And fill it up with
brow powder as It gives a natural look.
Loosing eyelash, no worries there are fake
lashes you can glue them on. Try the funky
ones brings glamour back into life.
Skincare
It’s important to use sunscreen when you are
going through Chemo.
Moisturize, as your skin tends to be more
drier during this period. I have used Dilo oil
skin care from Pure Fiji, when my skin was
drying and peeling off, I used Scrub from
Arbone to help exfoliate dead skin on my feet
and hands. Aleo vera Gel to help provide relief
for burning skin. Lucas Papaw Ointment for
dry lips.
Dry eyes
Suffering from dry eyes due to treatment,
the chemicals from chemo tend to dry my
eyes. I soaked tea bags and placed them on my
eyes. Cutting cucumber and placing them on
eyes also helped. Carry eye drops with you.
Mouth ulcers
Chemo can cause mouth sores, because
these treatments are intended to kill rapidly
growing cells, and damages to the cells in your
mouth makes it harder to heal, help tips use
mouth wash, and rinse with salt water helped
healing the ulcers quickly.

wearing brighter colours in wardrobe will

Kids should not be afraid to tell their parents that they haven’t done well on an exam. Help your kids ace a test with positive interactions.

chool and tests can be a tough time
for a lot of kids. No matter how young
your child is, they are affected by the
competitiveness of exams and the pressure to
score well.
Kids are also affected by their teachers’ and
parents’ expectations, which often negatively
affects them to score well on tests. But it’s also
important to remember that young kids are new
learners and the reason they are being sent to
school is to learn new things.
When they are unduly pressurised to score
well all the time, it makes them anxious and
afraid of their guardian’s reaction in case they

deportation, and claims to be recognized as a
refugee or as a protected person. The Tribunal
is administered by the Ministry of Justice and is
chaired by a District Court Judge, appointed by
the Governor-General on the recommendation
of the Attorney-General.
It has 18 members, appointed by the
Governor-General on the recommendation of
the Minister of Justice.

your claim along with past IPT cases before it
