minimize the reach time towards accident location and quick response to that accident by
minimal user authentication

The Problem:

It goes without saying that accidents are unpredictable and could prove fatal, life threatening
and devastating to people and could impact people’s life physically mentally and financially.
Although we can’t predict accidents and we can always minimize the ways the accidents could
happen but cannot eliminate it completely hence we need a reactive approach to solve this
problem which is to provide necessary medical care to the victim as soon as possible which
starts by reaching of medical assistant to the patient or victim pronto. In Pakistan the common
commute is motor cycles and people like to travel through different routes on motor cycles and
sadly it is one of the most dangerous ways to travel but since it’s the cheapest people like to
use it for travel purposes and it has also been reported that people traveling on motor cycles
get into accident more often than any other vehicle. Again accidental recovery using technology
is the need of the hour without the prior consent of the person if the person has met with a
traffic accident and fainted during the accident.

Following are some of the well-known (identify the best known if possible) existing
solutions to this problem. Their known strengths and weaknesses are also provided.

As current helmet is only use for the safety purpose but if accident occurs It does not provide
the accidental recovery and neither family members are notified about accidents .Victims do not
get medical treatment on time which increases the death rates in Pakistan.
To minimize the death risks among the bike riders , we propsed an idea of Smart
Helmet using GPS & GSM with an Ambulance mobile application.We are introducing smart
helmet to the users which has a DSP ( Digital Signal Processor) in it to filter interference and
wind noise, and a bluetooth module , two speakers and an integrated set of batteries.There will
be control panel on the left side of the helmet along with the buttons which are: onn/off/select
and +/- for the loud and soft volume.The person wearing the helmet if met with an accident the
pressure sensors are inside the helmets and when the helmets gets strike with the road the
GPS will detect the location and send the alert SMS by GSM to the verified family memeber
about the the accident and to the ambulance application , the application will find the nearest
possible ambulace available in that identified area to rescue the victim from that particular
location.If the helmet falls down or by mistake it generates the alarm to start the whole process
the person can stop that by using a button and if the victim gets hurt but somehow the helmet
does not get striked the road there will be a default button to start the tracking and rescue
process.

Our solution will address the following weaknesses of above mentioned solutions.

Weaknesses those can be highlighted are:
 The victim might charge expensive by the ambulance drivers.
 The area where jammers are placed the helmet will not be able to transmit the signals.
 The person wearing the helmet should have smart phones.
 The ambulance drivers must be having internet connection and an ambulance applican
to rescue the victim.

We will use the following techniques to achieve improvements mentioned above.

The techniques that are being used in this project are:
GPS:
The satellite based navigation system GPS ( Global Positioning System) to get the location of
the victim in anywhere of the world without paying any cost.
GSM:
We are using GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) to transmit the At messages to
the family member and requesting for an ambulance .
Bluetooth:
By using the bluetooth the smart phone and helmet will be in connnection and using google
map of smart phone the user can hear the route instructions and reach the destination.
DSP:
We are using DSP (Digital signal processor) to overcome or reduce the noise of the
enviroment.
Ambulance application (Tracking):
The ambulance application is tracking the ambulances and will send the rescue request to the
nearest possible ambulance available. The ambulance registered drivers of the application will
reach to the provided location by GSM using Google api.

Synopsis:

The Smart helmet is helping the travellers when they met with an accident and does not get
proper medical treatment on time specially when even public is not present at that part of area
to help the victim and that is how the death rate has increased.Our helmet which has bluetooth
in it and can answer the calls by connecting to it and can control the wind noise by DSP and
has GPS and GPA technology to alert the registered family member by sending a message
along with location and will also send request to the ambulance application for the medical
rescue.
Benefits:
 It has minimize the death risks by providing rescue and orotecting head injuries.
 The family memebers get notified about the accident along with the location.
 It has bluetooth and can connect the mobile to it and hear about the routes by the
google maps without looking at mobile screen.
 It Lets victim be tracked and be helped by providing medical attention at time.

Target Market:
We are targeting the market where helmet are available named as smart but does not provide
the rescues to the victims.
Potential Customers:
We are providing the safety to the bike riders they are the customers , and minimizing the death
rates by taking the hurt victim to the hospital .

2.1 Background
Scope of the Project:
The Project that we propose addresses the need of immediate road accident reaction and we
think that it will be life saving for all road accident victims as the reaction and recovery time
from accident to reaching hospital as fast as possible as the life of the victim is at stake. We
are introducing a helmet which will be mounted with Arduino uno which will be connected with
the devices like GSM module, GPS, pressure sensor Bluetooth device, 2 microphones,
leds,DSP processor and a control pannel with buttons. In an unfortunate event of an accident a
helmet is the first thing that is hit hard but manages to protect the head of the person wearing
it. In an event of collision of helmet pressure sensor will read the pressure and will send the
data to Arduino. Arduino will calibrate the impact and will send a signal to the closest present
ambulance also guiding the ambulance to the location of the accident through GPS by sending
send a notification to the app installed in the mobile phone of ambulance driver also guiding
him to the location of the accident. App needs to be connected with the internet at all times to
carry out communication with the accident location and ambulance

The challenges we will face in this project are:

 If the application on the ambulance driver side is not working properly due to net issues

 If the ambulances are not close to the hurt person it will take time.

  The sensors in the helmet should not be damaged when it crashed on the ground.

 The GPS and GSM both should work properly all the time.

As the whole world is moving towards the new technologies we should focus on adopting
smart things(technologies) as smart helmet should be adopted to provide the easy and the
convinient use of the helmet which not only provides safety from head injuries but also tracks
the person and inform the family memebers and sends the request of ambulance to the
ambulance application and the nearest ambulance by given tracked information by GSM
reaches to find the hurt person and take him to the hospital.

The user has to buy the helmet and will provide us the authentic family memeber’s mobile
number and if in any case person wearing the helmet got hurt in an accident the family
memeber will be notified about it and the nearest possible ambulance will reach at the location
to rescue the hurt person.
