Post College Experience

One of the proudest accomplishments of my life was earning my college degree, despite the fact
that deprivation and agony were part of the journey. At the end of the way, I want to be recognized as a
successful person who achieved all the goals I planned and left a positive impression in people’s lives.
My admiration as graduates of Laguna University Batch 2017 with the degree of Bachelor Secondary
Education major in Biological Science are not much different from the average person, but it will still
take a lot of hard work to become more successful

Being a teacher without teaching experience and license is the Achilles tendon of every newbie
teacher that makes people to underestimate me as a teacher. My unforgettable first teaching
experience has happened at Pagsanjan Academy. I had to teach all science subjects from grade 7 to
grade 10. In my everyday routine in Pagsanjan Academy, I feel underestimated by the people around me
and luckily there are some people believing on my capabilities. They only see a silent spark but assure to
myself that this minute spark can be fierce fire in veneer. My love for learning enabled me to enjoy the
learning process that I went through while reviewing. It was fruitful to learn new concepts and relearn
old forgotten ones. I got reacquainted with concepts that I buried in my memory. It is bittersweet to
become a teacher while reviewing for board exam. After months of waiting, the verdict was announced.
I made it, I won the battle and the sparks turns to adamant fire. My first teaching experience taught me
a lot about what it means to be a teacher and a lot about myself as an ongoing educator. For example, I
always knew that coming up with lesson plans was not easy the same concept on how I will interact to
my students and coworkers.

This time, I’m serving my Alma matter. It is my honor and privilege to become part of Laguna
University. It is heartwarming to felt that my admiring professors are now my coteachers. As a teacher, I
work long hours to keep on top of marking and lesson planning. Sometimes, I stay at school after
classroom hours to do teachers task like checking papers, lessons for tomorrow class, and even to give
remedial quizzes and exam for those late. In addition, there is often a student who presents a challenge,
whether it’s texting on their mobile phone, arriving late to class, or purposely making a nuisance of
themselves. But for me the best attack and defense for this situation is to remember not to show signs
of being provoked by disruptive behavior instead I remind them of the class rules I impose at the very
beginning of the class. If, there are potentially underlying issue it may be better to speak my students in
private. Overall, I enjoy my mission as teacher at Laguna University, challenging yet it increases the
endorphin and dopamine in my brain. I always look forward with an optimistic mindset for my everyday
life here in my foundry. As of now, this is my second year of teaching at Laguna University but my feeling
is tantamount to my first day of teaching.

In the latter part, it is not solely what you will do post-college those matters, but also the
process. Making the transition from college student to a young professional is harder for some, but if we
are prepared for the kind of responsibilities, it will get easier with the help of our almighty God.
