Functions of broad ligament:

Broad ligament serves as the mesentery for the uterus, ovaries, and the fallopian tubes. It
helps in maintaining the uterus in its normal position; however, it is not the major factor in
this regard.

Ligamentul larg serveste ca mezenter pentru uter, ovare si tuburile falopiene. Ajuta la
mentinerea uterului in pozitia normala, desi nu este un factor determinant.

1) Broad ligament of uterus - Function

Its functions in the human body include the following:

 It connects the uterus and various genital organs to the floor and lateral walls of the
pelvic cavity.
 It serves as the mesentry for the ovaries, the fallopian tubes and the uterus.
 It also helps keep the uterus in place.

2) Round Function
The function of the round ligament is maintenance of the anteversion of the uterus (a
position where the fundus of the uterus is turned forward at the junction of cervix and
vagina) during pregnancy. Normally, the cardinal ligament is what supports the uterine angle
(angle of anteversion). When the uterus grows during pregnancy, the round ligaments can
stretch causing pain

**Functia ligamentului rotund este de a mentine pozitia de anteversie a uterului (o pozitie in

care fundusul uterului este intors inspre inainte la jonctiunea cervixului cu vaginul) in timpul
sarcinii. In mod normal, ligamentul cardinal este cel care ofera suport pt unghiul uterin
(unghiul de anteversie). Cand uterul creste in timpul sarcinii, ligamentele rotunde se pot
alungi, cauzand durere.

Cardinal Ligament Functions

It is primarily responsible for making a connection between the cervix and the
lateral pelvic wall, which is located at the ischial spine. It supports the uterus.

It also comprises of the uterine vein and the uterine artery
