Reflection Paper Assignment

One of the goals that I accomplished throughout the semester was able to discuss ideas surrounding

computers. This was a great course to take as a teacher because I know that I will be using these

programs to students especially those that are going to learn in my elementary class. Students in

this grade should be able use these programs because I know students in my grade are not able to

do these features from the programs so it is a great way to learn about them. Many of the programs

are really important that helped me like PowerPoint or even Excel. There are many shortcuts that

I never knew about my Mac that I can use. This has made my school and work much easier. I even

shared these ideas to other classmates in order to help them because it is important for everyone to

know about them. I will definitely use these ideas to help me prepare as a teacher.

Another goal that I know that I will be able to is approach new computer-based tasks more easily

and with greater confidence. I used to only know the basics that are in the program like for

presentations I only knew about making good presentation but know I know how to do great and

effective presentations like using the C.R.A.P. principles. This can be with helping other

classmates especially with presentation and how effected it can be. I can also use Excel with has

been very useful for work since I use charts organization. I did not know a lot about Excel because

I never knew how to use it. Now that I learn learned a lot about it like doing simple calculations

and how to use it in work environments, it made me more confident to do the features that it has.

I have been using it at work for America Reads for each child’s information and also tickets that

we used for the students. Overall this has helped me a lot and it will help me in the future as a

teacher.

The last goal that I achieved this semester was being able to navigate and research the World Wide

Web for information, access and document the validity and reliability of the information gathered.

I always use images from google and I do not even ask or look up if I have permission for the

images. I know that it is wrong to use other people’s work but sometimes it can hurt us even if

they are for educational purposes. Now I have been using Creative Commons website to use

images and even though they would not have the images that I needed, I improvise in order to not

use other’s information. I will definitely use Creative Commons for presentations or papers that

need images. I also learned the different types of licenses that images can have and it is important

to see if we are able to use those images. This has been helpful throughout the semester and I

learned so much in this class.
