This lesson is a continuation of the previous recycling lesson. Students will complete their
reduce, reuse, recycling poster by writing the definitions of each, 5 examples of each, coloring
and cutting out the pieces and then gluing it all together to post on the bulletin board for parent
teacher interviews. If students complete this within the class time they can work on coloring
and making their recycling bingo sheet. If there is time we will as a class play recycling bingo
with the bingo winners giving an example of how they would reduce, reuse, recycle.
Critical Questions
Lesson Guiding Questions (These guide the lesson, can be used for formative assessment
and are lead-ins for pedagogical discussion with students) A lesson can have several
guiding questions.
What are different ways that we can Reduce, Reuse and Recycle to decrease the
amount of waste?
What are the 3 R’s?
Assessment
Formative: Finished product of the poster will show me that they understand how we are
producing waste and identify different ways to reduce, reuse and recycle.
-Group discussion will show me that they understand what reduce, reuse and recycle means
and different ways that we can decrease waste.
Learning Resources

Lesson Procedures
Introduction (3 min.):
Last day we were working on the reduce, reuse, recycle poster. I would like you all to finish it
today so we can hang them around the classroom for when parent teacher interviews are going
on.
You are to make sure that you have the definitions of each reduce, reuse, recycle in the spot on
the page, and 3 extra examples of each on top of the 2 that I gave you.
When you have everything cut out, you will glue the earth to the page with the definitions and
examples and then you will glue the bottom part of the arrows on the back of the globe,
looping the arrows to the front and gluing the top part of the arrow on the front of the globe to
make a recycling sign.
When you have that all completed then you can grab a bingo card and color the spots, cut them
out and then glue them on the bingo sheet where ever you would like to create your own
recycling bingo card. Make sure that you leave the center free space.
Make sure your names are on both the poster and your bingo sheet
Closure (4 min.): Consolidation Learning; Indicate clean up protocol, material management etc.
Transition to Next Lesson. How do you plan to prepare students for the next period?
Are they changing classes? Is another teacher coming in to the room.
Group discussion:
What does reduce, reuse, and recycle mean?
How can we reduce, reuse and recycle?
