Throughout her plans, she incorporates ways to differentiate instruction, and this usually entails different groupings of students, based on their academic progress.

Lyssa is doing well in the classroom. She has developed the respect of her students and teaches with an engaging manner. During the observational period, she used technology with skill, and integrated it into her lessons. The school division has one laptop per student policy and Lyssa has been using digital resources throughout the experience.

Lyssa has grown in the area of using student data to aid in her planning. She and her cooperating teacher have used prior SOL data to guide instructional planning. Lyssa also documented pre- and post- assessments to gauge the extent of student learning. For example, she studied the pre-and post-data of student achievement on the math angles unit and analyzed the data. Similarly, Lyssa has documented reading data from the DRA assessments and used these to develop reading groups.
