As I reflect on everything I have learned and created in EDT180, I can say in great confidence

that this has been my favorite class this semester. This semester has taught me many

resourceful techniques I could use in regard to the cyber world. I have always been aware of

the significance of technology in our advancing society, but these last few months have helped

me gain new insights on how to incorporate it into the teaching profession. I feel that I have

achieved the ultimate goal of EDT 180, to achieve computer literacy. Some of the goals I have

accomplished include approaching new computer-based tasks with greater confidence,

familiarity with Google based applications, and the functions of computers in classrooms,

businesses, homes, and other environments.

One of the greatest things I have acquired from this course is confidence in technology. I have

never considered myself a computer person because of the unfamiliarity I’ve had with

technology. I have learned several new things from this course that have boosted my

confidence in computer-based tasks. One of the main lessons I very much enjoyed learning

about while finding very useful are the C.R.A.P. principles. After I learned these principles, I

immediately began incorporating them in presentations for my other classes. Learning this has

given me a greater confidence in creating organized and presentable projects. Another lesson

that I am grateful for is the Cover Letter module. Before this course, the only knowledge I had

regarding Cover Letters is what I have acquired through personal experiences and my own

research. Learning the proper way of writing a cover letter can help me apply for different jobs

later in life. I have successfully reached the goal of navigating through technology with genuine

confidence, which plays the biggest role in success

Another objective I have met is familiarity with Google based applications. I entered the course

with basic knowledge surrounding Google, such as Google Docs and Google Slides. I would use

these two applications for school assignments regularly, but I never payed attention to the

other areas. An area of Google I entered with no knowledge and am now leaving with vast

understanding is how to create and launch surveys. This specifically stuck out to me because I

have taken surveys through Google but have never been a creator. Surveys through Google can

help any profession improve their quality of work. With teaching, launching surveys can play a

huge role in the student’s success because it can help teachers figure out how to give their

students the best possible learning experience.

It is common knowledge that computers and technology are a big component in the advancing

society, but I have never focused on how it impacts different environments such as classrooms,

businesses, and homes. This is the course objective that has mainly broadened my views on

technology. Technology can save a significant amount of time and aggravation in any

environment. My major is Elementary Education, and as this course is coming to an end, I have

a new point of view on the use of technology in the educational field. I have always been a firm

believer that society, specifically younger generations, should be less reliant on technology. I

have felt that the more technology we introduce into children’s lives, the less knowledge they

will gain and absorb. I can now say in great confidence that society needs to embrace and use

technology to their advantage. Each module has taught me how to incorporate technology into

“real life”. I have learned how to create lesson plans with computer-based applications and

how to present those lesson plans in a successful manner.

When I first read the EDT180 syllabus in early August, I had a very basic understanding in the

objectives and modules listed. After reading through it in December, I realized how much I have

learned during the months between. Everything I have learned in the course of the semester

can help me with my future endeavors. Each module and project have its own importance that I

have absorbed with great confidence. My newfound knowledge has introduced me to different

ways I can implement technology into my future classroom.
