Project 1 Revision Assignment: Peer Review

Author of Project 1 Rough Draft:

Peer Reviewer of Project 1 Rough Draft:

Read over your peer’s draft. Please keep in mind our Project 1 project description and the
grading rubric that accompanies it. First, read the entire rough draft. Then respond thoroughly
and with specificity to the questions below, typing your feedback on the “Response” line after
each question. All your feedback should be in complete sentences. Make sure to answer each
individual question/prompt, as some have multiple parts. Note that it may help your peer to
differentiate between your feedback and the questions if you use a different font/color for your
feedback.

The Composed Profile (Part 1)

1. Does the profile’s title prepare you for the subject of the profile in a creative way? If not,
do you have any title suggestions?

Response:

2. Does the introduction prepare you for the subject of the profile? Is it clear what group is
being profiled, and why? List the specific group below.

Response:

3. Does the profile’s introduction make you want to keep reading? Why or why not? How
could it be strengthened?

Response:

4. Does the profile include evidence of primary research (visual observational data,
interviews, audio files, etc.)? List 1-2 specific areas in the draft where you think more
primary research material should be included; explain why and how.

Response:

5. Does this profile provide secondary research material? Is the secondary source material
included interesting and relevant, supporting the profile’s takeaway? What sort of
additional secondary source information do you think would enhance this profile?

Response:

6. Do the visuals and/or audio files used enhance the profile? Why or why not? Are the
visuals and/or audio files effectively integrated into the profile?

Response:
7. Are there any new/additional visuals and/or audio files you can think of that would
enhance the profile even more? Identify at least one visual and/or audio file you think
would enhance this draft; explain where you’d place it within the draft and why.

Response:

8. Does the profile get sidetracked at any point? What parts of the profile seem least
interesting/relevant to the intended takeaway about this group?

Response:

9. What is the key takeaway of the profile? Is it clear what readers are supposed to
understand or “see” about this community group? State what you think this draft’s main
takeaway is—and whether it is unexpected and meaningful to you (given the surface
identity of the group selected).

Response:

Student-Designed Multimodal Flyer for Community Group (Part 2)

this information likely to be effective in attracting new members to the group? Provide
examples of information that you think is ineffective in achieving these goals in the flyer;
explain why.

Response:

3. Focus on the text, the words, chosen in this flyer. Are there too many? Too few? Are
they the “right” color? The “right” font? Are these the “best” possible words to convey the
intended takeaway of the flyer? Do they complement or clash with the images? Are there
any typographical errors? Make specific recommendations for improving the textual
choices in this flyer.
