VERNON HILLS, Ill., - March 13, 2009 — Mitsubishi Electric Automation, Inc., a premier
industrial automation company, introduced today the FX3G – a mid-range compact PLC
(Programmable Logic Controller) that continues the FX3 series tradition of providing high
performing economical control solutions.
To illustrate the next generation of advancements, the FX3G has four times the memory and data
storage, and over five times more programming devices than the previous generation of FX1N
controllers. The FX3G is designed for performance-critical applications that require discrete
control of up to 128 local I/O or up to 256 I/O with CC-Link remote I/O. With a high processing
speed of 0.21μs per logical instruction, expansion of up to eight Special Function Modules and
connection to FX3 series Adapter Bus, the FX3G provides unmatched configuration flexibility.
Furthermore, with a wide range of network and serial protocols available, such as Ethernet, CC-
Link and Modbus, the FX3G enables seamless integration and data communications between
both Mitsubishi Electric and third-party devices.
With the ability to handle analog, high speed, positioning, and inverter control, the FX3G is able
to successfully adapt to a range of applications in industry areas such agriculture, water
processing, material handling, food processing and more.
The FX3G controller is programmed using the GX Developer software package. This
development environment supports ladder, instruction list, and sequential function chart
programming. The programming instruction set includes both basic instructions and over 120
dedicated application instructions, making both programming and system configuration fast and
simple. The other features of the entire MELSEC FX3 series are also standardized, including
physical installation dimensions, connections and CE and UL/cUL approval.
Since introducing compact controllers in the 1980s, Mitsubishi Electric has sold more than 9
million units, which makes these small PLCs one of the most successful product lines in the
compact category. To locate the nearest distributor or Mitsubishi Electric Automation technical
