PETRI 1st Annual Scientific Meeting of the Indonesian Society of Tropical and Infectious Disease
PIT 2018 in conjunction with The 7th Annual Bandung Infectious Disease Symposium
Harnessing innovative strategies to control and manage infectious diseases
Greetings
B-IDeaS Dear Colleagues,
Infectious diseases remain a major cause of mortality and morbidity in Indonesia. As a country with the
fourth largest population in the world located in the tropical region, infectious diseases persist as a great
problem to Indonesian's community. This country has a large underdeveloped area connected with
environmentally related and zoonotic diseases. At the same time, rapidly increasing population in the urban
combined with unorganized city development plays a major role in infectious disease transmission. In our
living spaces, infectious diseases can rapidly spread through vectors, direct airborne or through direct
contact.
These threats urge us to reinforce science, technology and improved new strategies in infectious disease
control as well as quality of our health care system. The annual Scientific Meeting of the Indonesian Society
of Tropical and Infectious Disease (PIT-PETRI) exists as a significant event for knowledge sharing, brain
storming as well as updating knowledge and skills for clinicians in Indonesia. Since all level of healthcare
service are highly connected in infectious diseases control and management effort, this meeting will be
benefit for clinician, scientists, nurses, laboratory technician, public health professional, researcher, and
other professionals involved in disease control.
This year's PIT-PETRI will beheld in the conjunction of the 7th Bandung Infectious Disease Symposium
(B-IDEAS). An annual event which is held in Bandung, West Java Province which cater the largest Indonesian
population in one province. Nationally and internationally prominent infectious disease professionals will be
gathered in this event to share their knowledge which not limited clinical infectious disease management
but also individual and community control and prevention.
