to the 42LE, so the bearing preload adjustment procedure is


exactly the same. The only difference is the output shaft
extension has a compression snap ring holding the shaft on
(figure 10). The extension shaft must be removed to set up
the bearing preload, using the special holding tools from the
42LE (figure 11).
This design has been reliable over the years and has
been a staple in transmission shops all over the world. Parts
should be readily available, so don’t be afraid to dive right
into this newest addition to the Dodge transmission family…
and keep on having Fun With Transmissions.
