EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Goal/ Aim

The aim of this project is to establish a comprehensive understanding of the


development of various Eastern (Southeast Asian & East Asian) Architectural
typologies, their characteristics, technology, style and symbolic - philosophical, cosmological/
metaphysical, and religious meanings underlying their architectural manifestations.

GROUP NAME:

Objectives
The objectives of of this project are:
1. To CREATIVELY interpret architectural understanding of certain periods of Eastern
Architecture; hence, make learning fun and encourage memorable event for
instantaneous remembrance;
2. To be able to analyse and differentiate the uniqueness, similarities, and meanings behind
architectural typology (ancient/indigenous, religious, traditional/vernacular - house, palace;
colonial.hybrid, modern.secular, etc.) designs of different regions and context - social, culture,
political economic and civilisation.
3. To learn about the history and technology (construction & materials) of certain periods of
architectural design by making;

Project Outline/ Tasks:


Based on the VOTED Building typology of certain region, each group is to:
• Analyse and discover the unique design features, characteristics/ styles, and (symbolic) meanings
of the particular building(s) of a certain period in the history of Eastern Architecture;
• To highlight the unique features, characteristics/ styles and their (symbolic) meanings; and
ultimately interpret them in the form of wearable architecture model;
• The wearable architecture model can be a fixed structure, or transformable - attach and
detachable; mobile or static. For example, it could also be a combination of different parts of models,
from many models to unite, and become one.
• The Presentation MUST BE supported by a clear descriptive explanation of each design
representation highlighted, by one or more presenters;
• Each group must assign one or more photographers who shall take best shots of the costume
displays that demonstrate the design features, characteristics and (symbolic) meanings.
• The products of the camera shots shall be translated into a visual report, supported with
descriptions and explanation of the particular figure.

Assessment Criteria:
The assessment Criteria shall be based on the followings:
1. Unique and creative interpretation of the the building(s)’ architecture into a wearable
model/structure ;
2. Precise and concise explanation and/or description of the design features,
characteristics, styles and symbolic meanings ;

3. Good to Excellent workmanship, teamwork and overall management and


SUBMISSION of visual report, AND MUST provide all group members’
participation roles, as well as peer assessments.
