This 6-point lesson plan outlines a hands-on activity where students will create topographical maps of North Carolina out of clay. They will color code the maps to show different regions and label landforms and bodies of water. Students will also research and write about 3 natural resources found in the state. To demonstrate their knowledge, students will create short PowerPoint presentations and present their maps and findings to the class. The goal is for students to apply their understanding of North Carolina's geography and natural resources.

You will also make a short Power Point slideshow made up of different pictures of North Carolina. These can be any pictures that have to do with the geography, all the way to what the natural resources look like. I will show an example Power Point. Each student is to complete their own map, but you will be allowed to help each other and ask each other which natural resources the other person is deciding to choose, that way if you find someone else who has chosen the same one as you, you can help each other out. IV. After each student has gotten to share, we will then set the maps up on a side table as a gallery for everyone to look at. Once the students have returned to their seats, I will then give an overview on what we have learned and explain why it is important for us to know and understand the geography of a state and it’s effects of natural resources and living conditions. As for remarks on the lesson, I would say that is a fun project that the students enjoy. Next time, I will take the class to the computer lab for the first day to allow them to conduct research and work on their Power Point without having to fight over the few we have in our classroom. Also, I might have this done as a group project and do two days of one hour long group work and the last day a half hour for finishing touches instead of use 30 min each day to work on it.
