Additionally, the handpiece can be operated
using the controls at the lower end of the
handpiece.
Within the handpiece there are 6 white LEDs,
which provide sufficient lighting. The special IFC-
Optic allows macro, intraoral and extraoral
images to be prepared. Within the macro and in-
traoral ranges the IFC Optic provides a high
depth of field. In the extraoral range the IFC
Optic has a high light intensity.
The image is picked up by the IFC Optic and
electronically converted into a video signal. The
video signal is then transmitted by radio signal to
the base station.
The base station now digitalises the image data
and transmits this data directly to the PC via the
USB 2.0 connection.

the monitor can be switched between Live Mode

on software).
The manual release functions using a pressure
sensitive ring switch and can be operated with
the camera at any angle whatever simply by app-
lying pressure with a finger. Operating the manual
release causes a short, light vibration and an
acoustic signal can be heard at the base station.

Installation

8. Set-up
Ensure that the electrical socket into which the
unit is plugged is easily accessible.
Danger of a short circuit
Do not set the VistaCam CL.iX up in
the vicinity of a wash basin, sink or
10 spittoon. Prevent spray water from
coming near the camera or the elec-
EN trical connections.
8.1 Room for set-up
The room temperature must not fall below
3 + 10 °C in winter and in summer must not rise
above + 40 °C.

8.2 Set up options

• Wall mounting
Use screws, dowels and the two distance
spacers to mount the holder (10) onto a wall.
Place the base station into its holder.
• Pipe mounting
The holder (10) can be fixed as required to any
9
available vertical or horizontal pipe (11) using
the mounting strap (12). Place the base station
into its holder.
• Table set-up
The base station can be set up on a flat surface,
e.g. on a table.
10 Stick the rubber pads (13) supplied onto the rear
side of the base station.

ly onto the base station or any suitable position
in the vicinity of the VistaCam CL.iX.
(Length of camera cable 2 m.)
9 Use installation set, order number 2106-105-50.
Details of how to attach the handpiece
10 holder are included with the installatio
set. Please read these carefully.

Damaging the VistaCam CL.iX

2 The handpiece can easily fall out and EN
become damaged if the handpiece
holder is set up incorrectly.
Position the handpiece holder so
7 that the handpiece can not possibly
fall out.

9. Electrical Connections
Observe requirements IEC 60601-1 (EN 60 601-
1; VDE 0750 Section 1-1) on connection to the
9 monitor.
If you have any questions concerning suitable

10. Commissioning
1 Do not put the appliance into opera-
tion immediately.
The appliance should be allowed to reach
room temperature.
Temperature differences can lead to the
build up of condensation which could de-
stroy the electronics when the unit is swit-
ched on.
The appliance must not be used in any way
that gives concern regarding safety!
The appliance may only be operated in a
1b
EN safe and functional condition.

Always handle the handpiece (1) careful-

ly. It must not be allowed to fall.
10 Scratches or dirt on the optical lens will
lead to a high loss in image quality.

• Place the rechargeable battery pack (1b) into

the handpiece (1).
• Place the handpiece into the battery rechar-
ging unit (6).

Where more than one treatment unit (i.e.
chair) is served or in the event of radio
transmission interference channel setting
is possible at the handpiece, in DBSWIN
and either the cable or the radio-opera-
ted foot pedal (optional).
The channel setting in DBSWIN must, how-
ever, be identical to that at the handpiece.

10.2.1 DBSWIN channel setting

11 • open DBSWIN
- folow the display Option - Configuration
- Video
- Video set up / Settings / Base station
12 • Under "Camera Channel" (11) it is possible to
set the channel required from 1-5.
Choose the same channel on the handpiece,

• Under "Foot Pedal Channel" (13) it is possible
to set the channel required from 1-8.
• Place a tick (check) in the box "Radio-operated

Use of the Appliance

11. Operation
11.1 Important information concer-
ning the handpiece
Damage to handpiece:
The handpiece can easily be dama-
ged if it is allowed to fall on the floor.
Do not put the handpiece down on a wor-
king surface or table top; always replace EN
in the battery charger or handpiece holder
(optional).
17 The optical lens can be damaged if it comes
into contact with sharp metal objects or
similar. Do not place the handpiece between
surgical instruments.
1.
The quality of the image can be greatly
affected by dirt on the optic. Observe the
cleaning instructions under section 12.
11.2 Using hygienic protective
covers
Hygienic protection
For reasons of simple hygiene the
VistaCam CL.iX must only be used
together with a hygienic protective
2. cover when used for intraoral areas.
Hygienic protective covers are dispo-
sable items and must not be reused.
• Hold the handpiece such that the window of the
optic itself faces downwards.
18 • Hold the disposable protective sheath so that
the blue stripe is facing upwards.
• Lift the white edge of the disposable protective
sheath and carefully insert the optic.
• Once the tip of the optic is completely at the
top, the sheath should be stretched a further
2-3 mm so that the cover is tight.
• Use the tip of a finger to carefully press the she-
ath tight against the window of the optic itself,
in order to remove any small air pockets that
may be present between the sheath and the
window of the optic.
• Hold the blue stripe of the disposable protective
sheath tightly and pull the upper plastic side of
the packaging towards the optic.
• Unpeel the paper underside off and dispose of.
• Slide the hygienic protective cover off carefully
19 after use and dispose.

2009/10 15
11.3 Switching VistaCam CL.iX on
or off
1 • Remove the handpiece (1) from its battery
charger (6), or from its holder (optional extra)
(2). The camera will automatically switch on.
Or
• Pressing the switch (1c) once briefly is
sufficient to switch the VistaCam CL.iX on.
• Press the switch for ca. 5 seconds and the
VistaCam CL.iX switches off.

The camera automatically switches off

11.5 Using distance spacer

(optional)
The special image distance spacer has
the advantage of allowing repeat images
16 to be captured.
• Before use check carefully that the spacer (16)
has been correctly disinfected, cleaned and
sterilised, see 12.3.
• Fix the spacer (over the disposable protective
cover) in place:
