BEYOND VIOLENCE IS HOLDING THEIR 8TH ANNUAL 5K WALK/RUN

Beyond Violence Inc. plans family event to raise money for the cause

(BERWICK, PA February 21, 2018) The nonprofit organization Beyond Violence Inc. will
hold their 8th Annual 5K Run/Walk for the Cause on Saturday May 5, 2018 at 1pm. The
family friendly event will begin at the Berwick Brewing Company.
“Our hopes for our 5K is to engage with the community, and raise awareness for local
resources to prevent domestic violence and support victims. For many years our 5K
run/walk has brought members of the community together and we aim to achieve the
same thing this year,” says Jennifer Frantz, Executive Director of Beyond Violence Inc.
Runners of any age can participate in the 5K. The early bird price to join is $20 per
person and the day of race registration price is $25. All proceeds will go toward
supporting Beyond Violence and their shelter. There will also be t-shirts awarded to the
first 100 entrants for the 5K.
Sponsors of Beyond Violence’s 8th Annual 5K include Berwick Health and Wellness
Fund of the Central Susquehanna Community Foundation, Jay Jarrett, Martz
Technologies, Berwick Brewing Co., Briggs Farm, The Locker Room, and many more.
Beyond Violence is a private non-profit organization based in Berwick, Pennsylvania.
The mission of this organization is to provide support and safety to victims of domestic
violence and sexual assault, eliminate person and institutional violence. They also offer
direct services, educational programming, systems advocacy along with adult and child
counseling. Beyond Violence’s main goal is to provide support to and empower local
women who have become victims of violence.
Participants for the event will meet initially at Berwick Brewing Company. The course of
the 5K will take place on Susquehanna Avenue and move into the Test Track Park in
Berwick. Registration will be from 11:30 am to 12:45 pm on the day of the event. After
the event trophies will be awarded to the top Male and top Female overall. Awards will
also be given to the top 3 runners in each age group for both male and females.
