INTRODUCTION

Teaching is known to be the noblest profession. Because there would be no doctors,

engineers, architects and others without a teacher. The teacher is the molder of the mind of every

students. His role is not only to impart knowledge but he is also a facilitator, counselor, model

and a second mother of the students.

Educating people is not an easy task but a challenging task. You spend more time, effort,

patience, and sometimes money; you also do your best so that your students will learn better. A

teacher will help to blossomthe innate knowledge and help to discover the hidden talents, skills,

and abilities of his/her students. An efficient and effective teacher will prepare his/her students

in the real world. A good teacher does not teach only by his mind but also by his heart.

This book contained with the different experiences of the author during her internship. It

also revealed the life of the author, her struggles, patience, and hardworks in order to stand in

the middle of persecution, and to fulfill her dream to become a teacher.

May this book will serve as a guide and inspiration, to those who aim to study in Education.

And it may give inspiration and hope to those education students, specially to those who undergo

practice teaching.

BIT International College

100 Gallares Street, Tagbilaran City
Bohol, Philippines

IT’S HISTORY

THE HUMBLE BEGINNINGS

A shared vision for humanitarian service through

education marked the humble beginning of the BIT

International College (formerly Bohol Institute of

Technology). This academic institution of learning,

scholastic activity, and community service, owes its existence to the faith, zeal and humility of

the couple: Atty. Dionisio D. Balite, Ph.D. and Dr. Lilia A. Balite, Ph.D.

In 1981, the Balite couple put in motion their long cherished dream of establishing a

school that caters to the technological demands of the Boholano community. Thus, the name

Bohol Institute of Technology has become a common household name not only in the provinces

in the Visayas and Mindanao. Towards an educated and better-equipped youth to face the future,

BIT IC has become a convenient and effective instrument in the fulfillment of such goal. Moreover,

the institution not only complied with its noble obligation to provide Christian education to its

graduates but has also become an active, effective partner of parents whose main concern in life

is to secure a bright and assured future for their children.

Blood, Sweat and Tear

2

Such excellent achievements of the BIT International College did not come in a silver

platter. They were the rewards of the blood, sweat, and tears shed by the Balite couple since the

time the first post of the school was laid in place.

Their knowledge and expertise in the management of a school dates back when both were

them working students at the Registrar’s Office of the former Rafael Palma College now University

of Bohol. Right after their stint at RPC, Atty. and Mrs. Balite joint the Saint James College (now

PMI Colleges) and served as the latter’s school Director and Registrar.

First Campus

On June 1981, the BIT IC was inaugurated in a two-storey rented building along the

corner F.Rocha and Hontanosas Streets. It was a breakthrough in education in the province of

Bohol.

With only 15 employees, teaching and non-teaching, the very first course offerings were:

Electronics, and Air Conditioning, Auto-Mechanics and Driving, Master Electrician, General Radio

Communication Operator's Course, and Stenography, Special Tying, and Bookkeeping. Her initial

enrollment unexpectedly reached 452. The turn-out was indeed a big surprise as the founding

couple was only hoping for at most 200 students to break even the expense.

Among the pioneering mentors were Mrs. CrispinaBaco, Mr. Alberto Balagot (+), Mr.

Gregorio Bayron (+), Mr. Rogelio Lupot, Mr. Eddie Brazillano (+), Mr. NocolasEdpalina(+), Engr.

David Sales, Mrs. ServaFurmentera, Mrs. DominaBequero, Mrs. Pelino Solon (+), and Mr. Pelagio

Daleon.
3

In 1982, the school administration decided to expand due to increasing demands of

students. Force by necessity, BIT branched out and established the Bohol Institute of Technology

Annex in a two story rented building along Maria Clara and Tobacco Streets, City of Tagbilaran.

In the same year, BIT opened its doors to additional mentors and course offerings.

More Buildings

The years that followed saw BIT in a shower of bounty after bounty.

Through the years, the school has consistently produced topnotchers and passers in

National Board Examinations and graduates who easily secured employment both locally and

abroad. Because of this, the student population increased tremendously compelling the school

administration to look for another ideal site for expansion. In 1984, BIT constructed an 8-room

building at the purchased lot along Gallares Street.

The year 1986 saw the beginning of the construction of a 5-storey concrete building next

to an 8-room building at the soon to be known as BIT Main Campus.

Sister School

BIT’s vision of humanitarian concern emphasis the limits of the metro polis. Thus,

responding to the clamor of parents and students, the BIT International College-Jagna in Jagna,

Bohol was established in 1986; the BIT International College-Talibon in Talibon, Bohol in 1993,

The BIT International College-Siquijor in Siquijorin 1995; and the BIT International College-

Carmen in Carmen, Bohol in 1998; and the BIT International College-Butuan in Butuan City in

2001.
4

As she likewise conforms to the basic tenets of quality, Christian Education of BIT is known

for, the sister school answer to the quest for knowledge and technological aspect in the rural

parks in the Province of Bohol and in the Visayas and Mindanao.

Truly, these and all the rewards and achievements yet to come reflect the indomitable will

and iron determination of the couple behind the successes of the BIT International College.

SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY PROFILE

A. SCHOOL PROFILE

A.1 Name, Address and History

Ambassador Pablo R. Suarez National High School is located at Bicao,

Carmen,Bohol. It is seven (7) kilometers away from the town proper. It is accessible to all who

want to experience quality Education. The school got its name from Ambassador Pablo R. Suarez

who passed the bill creating a public school in Carmen. Its started its operation in school rear

1994-995. At first, it offered only first yearlevel with only 77 students; specifically 45 male and

32 female students. They were managed by three local paid teachers. They occupied the two

dilapidated classrooms of Bicao Elementay School. From there, the cradle of learning of

Ambassador Pablo R.Suarez National High School started.

In the following year, another teacher was needed. Through the LGU manned

byMayor Alfredo Galang the problem was solved by hiring one additional local paid teacher.

Through the offer of Bry. Captain Galo Frajele and his council, the Barangay hall was made into

a classroom for the second year students.

Later on, through the concerted efforts of the local Government Unit and civic –

minded citizens the school had given one classroom building situated at one hectare land donated

by the heirs of late Mrs. Martina I. Ramirez for the school site. There were3 makeshifts classrooms

used to shelter the other classes which were built by the bayanihan spirit of the PTA.
13

Due to the increase of enrollment each year, classroom buildings were built graduallyuntil

during school year 2004-2005 the school had six classroom buildings to shelter the complete 4-

year level secondary students. This was managed by the school

incharge; Mr. Filemon A. Suarez.

To gratify the student’s hunger for Information Technology, the school is computer

assisted by the Local Government and supportive NGOs.

During the school year 2006-2007,a principal qualifier is designated by theDivision office

to lead the school, Mrs. Carmelita Suarez but then she was transferredfor a promotion to another

school, so an Officer-In-Charge was designated until another full pledge Secondary School Head

Teacher III Dr. Carolina O. Calamba, Ph.D was assigned and manned the school, School Year

2008-2009.

The school is now on its third cycle continuing its implementation of the

priorityimprovement areas with the help of the stakeholders.

ON CLASSROOM COMMUNICATION AND

MANAGEMENT

Communication is the process of sending and receiving messages between two or

more people, in order to convey thoughts and understand each other.Communication is

important, for it is the only tool to express ideas, feelings, and share meanings. In teaching and

learning process, communication plays a significant role forit allows both teacher and students to

understand each other, and maintain classroom management.

During her practice teaching, the author was particular with regards to her teaching field.

At first, she felt nervous and uncomfortable. She was ill at ease to move, and to talk. But then,

she was able to fight her fears and nervousness and she successfully finished her first day of

demonstration.Since the students will learn better through effective communication and

conducive learning environment. Teacher must utilize the language effectively and set an

environment of learning which is conducive.

Another factor in effecctiveteaching is classroom management. Managaement is the

process of deciding how to use something. Thgrough this, students can obtain the highest

learning. She was able to manage her students by using this two parts. She set a dailyroutine, in

where she and her students maintained the conducive learning center.
19

During her discussion, it is inevitable that some students were made some noise. She called

the attention of those students by direct eye contact, calling their names, stampher shoes and

sometimes, she made a short sermon to wake them up. She just managed herself to be more

patient and flexible.

Moreover, classroom management is important, and it needs cooperation of both teacher

and students. So that, they were both successful at the end of the lesson because they met the

desired objectives.

Finally, she realized that the teacher must know how to communicate, so that she

maintained classroom management. And maintain harmonious relationship between teacher and

students.
20

ON EFFECTIVE TECHNIQUE, STRATEGIES, METHODS AND APPROACHES

Teaching is like cooking food, for it really needs to have technique, strategies and follow

different methods, or else the food will be ruined. A teacher plays an important role in teaching

and learning process. He is the one who convey thoughts and facilitate student learnings in

various ways. Since, students learnings come from different ways, so teacher must employ

different techniques, strategies, methods and approaches to discover the various intelligence of

the students.

A good teacher should look forward to the needs of the learning with regards to the

teaching learning process by flexible, innovative and adaptive (in the case of which he/she should

be updated with change/trends of teaching). Therfore, it should be that different methods of

teaching must be introduce to enhance the comprehension of the students and boost their

interestin their studies.

On her practice teaching, the author used these different teaching practices. She utilized

different ways, in order to boost the interest of her students and would participate in her

discussion. And so, the students could easily understand the topic and maintain effective

interaction between her and the students as well.

The everyday use of techniques, strategies, methods, and approaches appropriately, the

author meet her expectation and made her teaching more effective.
21

ON PLANNING AND PREPARATION

“Aiming to be successful without planning and preparation is like building a

house without hammer and axe.”

It is the ultimate role of the teacher to plan and prepare lessons and activities. In order

to present her lessons effectively, teacher must be prepared with her lesson before implementing

it, otherwise both students and teacher will bedisappointed.

But doing so is not an easy task, it needs patience and enough time. A teacher should

consider her students and she must think whether the activities that she is preparing is

appropriate to the ability of her students.

During her practice teaching, the author took into consideration the importance of

planning and preparation. Planning is the act or process of making or carrying out plans to achieve

something or do something. Preparation is the action or process of making something ready for

use or service of getting readyfor some occasion, test or duty.

Finally, during her internship, the author realized that teacher must have the knowledge

to plan and prepare before teaching a certain subject, so she will meet her expectations and

objectives. And it is easy for the teacher to teach the topic, if she is really prepared.
22

ON MOTIVATION AND PRESENTATION

Motivation is the most important part of a lesson plan. It is important that a teacher should

plan, on what type of motivation she would use and be appropriated to her lesson. It is necessary

to include such motivations and energizers for it arouses the interest of the students and can help

improve their learnings.

Being motivated is an important factor every learner should have for this is the time when

their curiosity is aroused and interest with the lesson is boosted. Aside from that, there is a nedd

also to present the lesson well so that the students will understand easily the given lesson and

they will be eager to be trained and gained imparted knowledge.

Motivation must be interested, the author made her motivation interesting in order to

wake the interest of the students to participate.

When she was on her practice teaching, the author used different motivationseveryday

such as showing pictures, giving questions, games, contest, giving rewards. She sometimes

inserted jokes and true to life stories which was related to her topic, so that her students would

participate and interact with her. In that way, the students become attentive and motivated. And

she finished her topic successfully because she caught the attention of the students and she

imparted her knowledge effectively.

23

ON PRACTICE AND REINFORECEMENT ACTIVITIES

Learners are the center of the curriculum, they are the reason why a curriculum is

developed. Therefore, teacher must find ways in order for them to learn effectively. Learning is

not just knowing how to count, read and write. It’s not about learning through memorization, its

about understanding through experience. And they were able to apply it in daily lives. But there

is such thing that a teacher must consider in educative process, and these are practice and

reinforcement.

As teachers, you must preapare activities that the students can adopt totheir level of

excellent. Through activities, we can determine if they really understand lesson while being

discussed by the teacher. In other words, it is an application of learnings in which students are

tasked to do something regarding the lesson presented.

During her practice teaching, she manipulated different practices and reinforcement, like

oral recitation, board work, games and role playing. She let her students to ask questions,

clarifications with regards to the topic. She reinforce her students by giving additional points and

praise, so that her students would not feel bored, and they feel the sense of belongingness in the

class. In that case, her studentsbecame interested andbecame cooperative in class discussion

and in every activities she has been giving.

At any rate, cooperative learning is very important, since it is one way that a learner could

learn better. Because of that, the equal treatment of each other will reign entire the class, there

would be no descrimination between fast learner and slow learner, between rich and poor

students
24

ON EVALUATION AND ASSESSMENT

Evaluation and assessmenet are important factors in making your classroom instruction

more dynamic and productive.

There is a synonymous relationship between evaluation and assessment. Assessment

refers to the process of gathering, describing or quantifying information about student

performance. It includes paper- and- pencil test, extended responses and performance

assessment. Evaluation refers to the process of examining performance ofstudent. It also

determines whether or not the student has met the lesson instructional objective.

During her internship, the author usually evaluate her students after her discussion, she

deliberately gave a formative test, in order for her to know if the students listen well and

understand to her discussion or not. After checking, when she noticed that most of her students

got high score, she was happy because she was successfully taught the topic and it really

possessed in the mind of the learners.

There was such time that her students got lower score, she never get mad what she did

was, she review the topic again so that the students could understand well. The teacher also

thought that maybe she needs more improvement and use some strategy in discussing her topic.
25

STUDENT TEACHING EXPERIENCE: IT’S

RELEVANCE TO HELP ONE’S AMBITION AS ATEACHER

“ When life locks you in your room, simply go out the window”

Education is a life-long process of learning and to become an efficient and effective the

strategies, tactics and teaching style that best suit him/her. It is the time of trial and error and

for growing confidence and beginning expertise. It is not a time for perfection but of striving for

competence. You must first understand the value of continuous learning because this will be the

teacher’s tools in molding individuals into a better and more competitive one.

The author’s experienced when she was on her practice teaching was not easy.It needs

enough money to buy materials for day to day demonstration. Sleepless night due to her

preparation of tomorrow’s lessons and activities. Handling a class with different attitudes and

behavior was not really easy, but she was able to managed them because of her patience and

flexibility. Facing students everyday improved her self- confidence.

Aside from that, during her practice teaching she has discovered and learned the

importance of understanding each individual differences of the students such as their needs and

different styles of learning. She learned to communicate to them not just through communicative

skills but also through the sense of feeling in which she had learned to appreciate every little

thing her students developed and improved. For she knew that every now and then, students will

change, from better to best they can be in the future.

26

Because of her experience, she realized that the role of the teacher is not easy to

accomplish. A teacher should be intelligent, creative, flexible and a paragon of virtue. And her

role is not only in school but it would also be extended in the community.

The author was successfully accomplished her task of being a student teacher. And she

knew that she touched the heart of every learner. Now, she is inspired to continue her career to

become a real teacher, she can achieve it only by the help of our Almighty Father.
27

INTRODUCTION AND REFLECTION

An efficient and effective teacher would never get tired in instructing, guiding, and helping

her students to learn. She will find various ways in order to provide the learners’ need.

On her first day of practice teaching, she was really excited yet so pressured. She hesitated

to talk because she was so nervous. But she never let her nervousness reign over her personality.

She thought that she have to do it for the sake of her future. Hence, she forced herself to show
her capability. She was then realized that a teacher should be a risk taker and do her best, in

order to accomplish the said vocation.

On her everyday demonstration, the comments and suggestions from her critic. Teacher

helped her improved her teaching skills. The author employed more effort because she wants to

educate, share, and impart her knowledge to the students

As she continue her practice teaching, she experienced hardships, trials and challenges.

She took every challenge she encountered, for she knew that those challenges would mold her

into a better and effective teacher.

On her everyday demonstration, she was eager to read her evaluation form, and hoping

the best comments and suggestions. Those comments and suggestions from her criticteacher

helped her improved her teaching skills. The author exerted more effort, not in vain, but because

she wants to educate people.

28

The author’s tears, sweat, humiliation and perseverance were all worth it, for she gained

more knowledge and skills which will be able her to be ready and become successful in the real

battle field of her profession.

29

CLASS ANALYSIS

In teaching process, the teacher is expected to handle the different behavior of the pupils

in the class.

In- Campus and Off- Campus

In In- Campus situation. She was lucky to be assigned as a student- teacher in Grade11

under Ms. Alona Tulang. Eventhough she already knew the behavior of the students in that

section, but then she accepted the challenge. As she began her practice teaching in the said year

level. She encountered different behavior with different capacity. So, the author used different

techniques and methods in order for her students to become interested. She also gave some

advices. Time passed by, she noticed that her students were productive in their class.

She also handled other subject in Grade 7 under Ms. Arlyn Bucio. Grade 12 students were

silent, they are behaved; it revealed that they were eager and interested to learn. She said that

it is easy to handle a class like them, they were easy to motivate.

When their schedule came for their off- campus. They were assigned in Ambassador Pablo

R. Suarez National High School. The author, was assigned in Grade 7- Humility and 7- Hope. This

section was composed of heterogeneous students. In where the author met different attitudes

and capacities. But she was able to cope with such individual differences for she already

experienced it during her in- campus training.

Fortunately, she was assigned in Grade 7 section hope. She encountered another students

she was that lucky without expecting, it’s because her students were quite intelligent,

30

eager to learn and cooperative. Although, they made some noise, unnecessary movements

butthey were manageable and easy to handle. The author said: I love this section very much,

because my students were kind, respectful, intelligent and hardworking. They encourage me to

do well in teaching them. And I also motivated to continue fighting my trials because they gave

me hope.
When the author compared the public and private school. She found out that private

school is more advance on their lesson than public. The behavior of students in private is different

from public due to different environment and a kind of living of the students.

However, it depends upon the teachers on how they will manage and respond to the

behaviors of their students the teacher should be more flexible and understanding in every

situation he/she may have with the students, adapting different kind of behaviors from the

students may lead to the best understanding from the teacher. Teacher is not only a giver of

information but also a model of good values.

31

WORKING WITH THE COOPERATING TEACHER

Working with the cooperating teacher was a good way of showing the spirit of

cooperation and inter- personal relationship.

A good educator will preserve personal and professional qualities. Their role is not only

teaching learners with the certain topic, but they also stand as a model. The author was grateful

with her cooperating teacher, for sharing their knowledge and helping her on how to act like a

real teacher.

Months before her practice teaching, she always pray to God, asking enough knowledge

and courage to overpass her greatest challenge as an education student. She also asked God for

cooperating teacher who can help her to improve her capacity and quality as a student teacher.

When the right time came, she undergone her practice teaching, she was happy because

God answered her prayers. God gave her a nice cooperating teachers both in and off- campus.

Her critic teacher gave her some advice on how to overcome such predicaments that the author

had experienced in handling the class. Her critic teachers always encouraged her to be ready with

her journey to become an educator. Her critic teachers were provide sometimes references which

are needed in her day to day class. She also helped her cooperating teachers in designing the

classroom and it also enhanced her creativity.

32

The author’s cooperatingteacher treat her as a real teacher. They talked to her

professionally, approached her with respect; it made her to be more confident in facing with the

different people.

Above all, she is always thankful to our Heavenly Father that He is always there, ready to

listen and answer her prayers. For God is the only reason why she finished her battle of being a

student.
33

WORKING WITH THE PRINCIPAL

A teacher must practice professionalization everytime. They should have to show respect

to their co- teacher and well- rounded with principles of their profession. A teacher must maintain

a harmonious relationship with her principal.

As she travel her journey as a student- teacher. She encountered two principals with

different attributes and principles.

In her in- campus training, the author and her co- student interns were very much lucky

of their principal. She was friendly, kind, approachable and beautiful inside and out. She discussed

them the rules and regulation in the High School Department. She also gave them rules and

regulations to follow as a student- teacher.Like attending Flag Raising Ceremony every morning,

and respond to the undesired behavior of students. The author carefully follow the rules and

regulations implemented by the principal.

During her off- campus training, as she reached her cooperating school together with their

Student Teaching Supervisor. She felt nervous, but it was vanished when the principal showed

her warmest welcome. The principal of that school was Dr. Carolina O. Calamba Ph. D. She was

beautiful, approachable, kind and helpful. The principal entertained them and introduced them to

their respective mentors and grade level. Her mentor was Ms. Rufne Anne Cambarijan. After that,

the principal introduced them the rules and regulations of their school.
34

She seat to it that she followed carefully the rules and regulations implemented in that school.

She was thankful because the principal trusted them.

And because of that, she learned how to maintain a good relationship between teacher

and principal. The author was blessful enough of their principal both in and off campus.
35

WORKING WITH THE STUDENTS’ PARENTS

Diversity is not just in students, it is also in the teachers as well as the parents. Thus, as

a teacher, you should consider the individual differences in dealing with the learner’s parents.

We all know the parents served as the first teacher to their children. A responsible parents

are concerned with the future of their children. They always find ways just to earn money in order

to support their children’s need in terms of their education. They also support their children

morally, they encourage them to study harder, strive hard and aim high for the better future.

Teachers are the second parents of the students, they help develop the learnings of the

students. They also teach them moral values as parents did.

Parents have also the role in educative process because they are the best supporters of

the curriculum, especially because they are the ones paying for their child’s education.

The school organized a group for parents and teachers called PTA (Parents, Teachers

Association). They conduct meetings, they help each other in planning for the development of

the school and for their children. They also have officers. They implement rules and regulations

to follow in order to maintain the harmonious relationship between teachers and parents. And

through this, it is easy for the teacher and parents to communicate each other, regarding with

the performances of the students. As a teacher, we also have to be approchable, so that parents

would not hesitate to ask about the situation of their children in school.
36

The author had an experienced like this. During her internship, there was parent asked

about the performance of her child, she monitored her children in school. But she hesitated to

come and approach the teacher, maybe because the teacher is new and unfamiliar. But the author

tried her best to communicate with that parent, so that she can help for the improvement of the

child.

Therefore, a teacher must always be ready to listen. She must be open minded all the

time and be flexible.

37

WORKING WITH THE COMMUNITY

A good educator is not defined with her intelligence but she is defined with her deeds,

actions and the way she interact with others. And therefore, she should maintain self- respect,

love of oneself and others. The role of the teacher is not limited only in the school. Their role must

be extended in the community. Conducting programs, hosting barangay events and others are

some of the teachers’ task.

The author tried her best to socialize with people around her. She also do good things

and she act as a role model to all people in her community, so that people will respect her. She

also extend her help to those people who are in need. Since people have high expectation of the

teacher; the teacher must exert effort in servicing people in her community, and never refuse

whenever people ask for help particularly in conducting and hosting certain events.

Finally, she realized that there is a biggest improvement in the community, if people and

teacher would cooperate each other. Moreover, having a good teacher and an understanding

people in the community, whatever developments you wish to pursue will be implemented

harmoniously for there is a good relationship between.

38

CONCLUSION

Based on actual experiences of the author during her practice teaching, the following

conclusions came up:

1. Teaching needs enough knowledge, skills and strategies, this would help in teaching

and learning process more effective;

2. Teaching is not only giving information, it also preparing the learners in the real world

of life;

3. Teacher holds great responsibility inside the classroom. Good classroom management

and proper use of practices contribute most in teaching and learning process;

4. Teaching needs an enduring patience and perseverance, it is a challenging task that a

teacher performs everyday;

5. Teacher is a role model and a paragon of virtue.

39

RECOMMENDATION

To ensure good trainings and observable learning outcomes among student teachers, the

author recommended some important issues as follows:

1. Teacher must have the mastery of the subject matter, and be equipped with different

strategies, this would help the students to understand well;

2. Teacher is not a sage of stage, she is only a facilitator of the learners;

3. Teacher as a facilitator should look after her students and the learning environment,

she should maintain a conducive learning environment for the effective learning process;

4. An efficient and effective teacher will endure and take the great challenge of her

profession, particularly in handling the class;

5. A teacher must possess a good reputation, she must act as a good example to anyone.

Teacher should act professionally and appropriately in socializing with different people.

GUIDELINES ON STUDENT TEACHING INTERNSHIP

(IN/ OFF CAMPUS TEACHING)

Internship (on/off campus teaching) provides a bridge between theory and practice. At this

point in your program, you have already taken the general courses, your subjects in the area of

your specialization, and professional subjects. Success in this field will be very vital to later

success in teaching; however, it is not a guarantee of instructional competence. Student

teaching, whether on campus or off campus will help you become a better teacher. It will give

you an opportunity to synthetize all that you have leaved and to translate them into

professional skills.

Major Objectives of the Internship Program:

 To provide him the opportunity with an overview of the total educational scene.

 To give him opportunity to experience a wide range of activities involved in teaching.

 To broaden one’s knowledge of the total program of the school and the relationships

that exists among its various components.

 To put into practice whatever the prospective teacher has learned formally as well as

informally, to make him an effective teacher.

Various activities that will help achieve the GOALS

ofINTERNSHIP:

Orientation Experiences Community School Activities

Classroom Experiences Working w/ School Personnel

AUTOBIOGRAPHY

On October 26, 1997 at Bicao, Carmen, Bohol the beautiful baby was born. She

was the only daughter of Mr. Alfredo and Mrs. Analiza B. Oyangorin. The life of the couple

became meaningful, more colorful and more beautiful when she came. She named Aires.

Her first teacher was her mother. She taught her abc and 123. When she was on

her right age, her mother sent her on school where her learnings developed and she

socialized with other children like her.

Her early childhood was a typical middle class environment circa the 1990’s. Her

father worked as a steel man in INC. Construction worker and her mom was a stay at

home mother. She had a happy, normal childhood as an only girl in three siblings.

Aires grew as a cheerful and active child. She was very close to her family

especially to her siblings her kuya long and baby bunso, they are grown enough attention

and care by their parents.

She spent her elementary years at Tagumpay Elementary School. During her

childhood years was very fun and adventurous because she was given a chance to study

in her province of Bohol were her father re-assigned at his work in the said province ,

back then she was in her grade 3. The author was very glad and happy she experience

more than enough in her childhood days during her staying in Bohol she came to meet

up again her relatives, especially her very kind and caring Lolo and Lola. She quickly

adapt the language that uses in her province she experience and discovered

78

a lot of things the culture, the traditions of the place that she never seen in her entire life

while she was in Manila City, she stayed in province until she turn Grade 4 and came back

again in Manila City to continue again her studies. But aside of that life is tough during

her elementary days. Eventhough they encounter such predicaments but they survived

because God does not forsaken unto them. Their livehood has improved with the help of

our Almighty God. The author finished her elementary years with ribbons.

During her high school years, she became responsible enough. She study harder.

Though she encountered problems and poverty but she never gave up. She pursue her
studies so that she can achieve her goals in life. When she was in her 4thyr in higschool

something came up that has a biggest changes in her life, their family needs to move to

other place because of some personal reason of her Mother and Father they migrate in

her father’s province were she spend her Grade 3 and Grade 4 elementary back then.

Their family have to adjust everything specially her younger brother who has never been

staying in a very long time in the province. But still she continue her studies at Katipunan

National High School.

After finishing her high school the author’s parents told her that she cannot go to

college in the first semester because they don’t have enough money. At the following day

the author was surprised because her parents gave her money for enrollment, she

79

was very happy and thankful to God. She went to BIT International College- Carmen, she

enrolled Bachelor of Secondary Education, her field of specialization is English, she took

this major because she idolize and inspired by her teacher in english when she was in

high school. Being true to herself that she is not really good in english or fluent in speaking

the language.

In her college days, she exerted more effort, she worked hard. She usually sleep

late at night because she studied her lessons. She studied during school days and went

home during weekends, she helped her parents to their little business in order to earn

money and for her allowance also. Sometimes she silently cried for she was tired, but she
never gave up, because she thought that the bitterness of sacrifices can bear the sweetest

fruit of success, and as what the saying goes “Today is sacrifice, tommorrow is paradise.”

The author finished her first year and received the reward of her sacrifices she got

a high grades that she never expect because there also a lots of competent students like

her.

She encountered various obstacles as she continue fighting her struggles. But she

never lose hope, they continue travel the road towards success. Those painful

experiences forced the author to work harder.

80

During the author’s practice teaching, she encountered different hardships, the

people criticized and judged her, there were times that she thinks of quitting but there

was a single thought from the corner of her mind said that “the winner never quits, the

quitter never wins.” She overcome those barriers of her journey with her only weapon

which is “prayers.”

After all, the author was able to finished her Bachelor’s Degree, and she

acknowledged it as a blessing that God bestowed on her.

The author said: Eventhough I encountered too much hardships but my trust on

God will never falter. Poverty is not a hindrance to success because success is just a

matter of perseverance, sacrifices and enduring adversities and persecutions. And Above

all, “Prayers is the best weapon for it is the key to success.”
