Today we are going to read a selection but before that, let us know first the
meaning of few words using context clues and picture clues.

Choose the meaning of the italicized words inside the parenthesis.

1. Waste disposal has a lot of detrimental effect to the lives of the people all over
the world. ( Harmful, safe, effective)
2. This rubbish is the biodegradable kitchen waste such as left over foods. (
garbage, scattered, bottles)
3. These are classified as wood, damage bricks, electrical wirings, concrete and
other debris produced at the construction site. ( scattered pieces of waste, left
over, hanging plastics)
4. All of these wastes are gathered from premises used for the purpose of trade
businesses, sports, entertainment, education and recreation.(a house or building,
path way, road)
5. Medical waste products are blood from patients who have undergone
operations, sharp pointed materials like scalpels, needles, and lancets.(sharp
materials for operations, stick)

describe using the strips.

Group V- Given are the descriptions of the materials. Write the classification of
each group.

your purpose?
Fixing skills:

Identify the following texts. Write C if they classify and D if they describe.
1. Physical Fitness Test is an examination to identify if you are healthy.
2. Some plants are flower bearing, some are seed bearing and others are
cone bearing.
3. Fork, spoons, plates and glass are used as eating paraphernalia. Kettle
and frying pan are used in cooking.
4. Trees are plants that give shade, fresh air, fruit and lumber.
5. Minda, a Grade V pupil is the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Reyes.
