This lesson was a little bit challenging for me. It was my first grammar lesson, which
made me nervous and excited as well to teach it. Starting the lesson using dice, which
contains some places and timings made the students excited to share some of their life
situations, this made them interested and focused as well. The second part was to explain
the new terms to them through PowerPoint slides, which went smooth because some of
terms were familiar to them such as; for example, in addition and because, So they were
good in making sentences using them. After that, I took them to the next lesson objective,
which is transition words. I started to interpret the new transition words as PowerPoint
slides and supporting them with some examples, besides asking the students to make
more other examples as well. Adding to this part, I divided them into three groups, in
which they will fill the blank on the board, which is, consists of some sentences to fill
with transition words. This part was an exciting one; the students were answering and
collaborating to be the winner. They were fully engage. This is a workbook activity but I
made it as a group one to make it more fun instead of asking them to do it on the book
itself. What worked about this activity is that they did what is been asked from them,
were engage, excited and understood the transition words and how they could use them
later. The last stage was little bit silent after they were hyperactive, which was the writing
one. Asking them to write sentence and then rewrite them as short paragraphs was boring
but it was for a purpose. They have to be able to use new terms in their writing, which
they did. Sharing it was unneeded, so I need to work more on my close lesson stage and
make it more proper.
