EXPRESSION MODULE

MY PHILOSOPHY
After going through TEL 111, I have learned different teaching
methods and philosophies. I have agreed with some and disagreed
with others. However, I have realized that teaching is not my
passion. I went into teaching to help those that have special needs.
But, I have found a career that aligns with my goals and desires for
myself. I am going to take the path onto being an Occupational
Therapist. For my philosophy, it is going to include various teaching
philosophies along with my own and apply it to my career in
Occupational Therapy.

PROJECT MEDIUM (MULTIMEDIA)

I chose to create a website on Weebly to show my philosophy there.

I wanted it to be displayed in a serious matter and where the
audience can view it easily. A website will be fitting for my
philosophy because any other medium would look messy. I thought
of using a website right away. I did consider using PowerPoint but I
stuck with what first came to mind and that is a website.

POTENTIAL BENEFITS OF MULTIMEDIA

Using a website, I can deliver my philosophy effectively while still

using technology. When I use Weebly, I can choose my own
template and show my audience my creative side. I can implement
different images to demonstrate my philosophy through media. I can
have a button to go to a page about me. This benefits my philosophy
by giving a background on myself. I will also include references to
other educators and their philosophies.

POTENTIAL CHALLENGES OF MULTIMEDIA

I think it will be difficult to pick what pictures to include with my

medium. The pictures need to perfectly represent my philosophy. It
will also be difficult because I am using this medium to write a long
page. Instead of using an app or PowerPoint, I need to think of it as
an essay because I need to deliver a lot of words. It would be easier
in that aspect if I picked another medium but this is the medium I
chose and it can be a potential challenge.

DRAFT / COMPLETED PROJECT OUTLINE (OR STORYBOARD)

My website will be simple so I can get my idea across effectively. It

will have a simple header saying “My Philosophy”. There will be an
about me page to give the audience a background about me so that
my philosophy is clearer. I will also include a place to include my
contact information like a normal website or blog would have. The
main home page will be where I state my philosophy. Under this, I
will include references so that I can credit other educators and their
philosophies. I will include some photos to help develop my
philosophy. My philosophy will include:

- How I will take on the field of Occupational Therapy.

- My approach to become successful.

- Other teaching philosophies will be included to show how I will act

with my patients.

- I will explain how technology can help me in my career.

- I will explain if I think my philosophy will change in 10 years.

My philosophy is that every person is unique despite their disabilities

or setbacks. Every person should have a personalized pathway so
that it can ensure the most growth for the person. Each person is
different from another, each person’s thinking is different, and each
person’s abilities are different. Everyone deserves the opportunity to
learn daily tasks in order to go through life successfully. I will
approach Occupational Therapy with an open mind and heart. I
believe that a positive outlook is a key component when taking on
this field. With anything, I believe that I should exercise kindness
whenever possible and consider others as if it was myself. In order
to be successful, it is crucial to surround myself in the environment I
will soon be working in and to seek others in the same field that I
wish to go in. It is important to gain experience along the way so
that I can become more successful in my career. I will focus on my
patients and the ways they learn best. Inclusion is necessary to the
field of Occupational Therapy. With the different kinds of people, I
stress that each person should be treated fairly. The differences from
person to person should be celebrated and used to personalize one’s
path. Technology can immensely help me during my career. There

are various ways of using technology to help a patient complete their
task. Technology can help a patient get around and help make
certain body movements. The use of technology can modify
everyday tools to aid those that need it. Technology can also help
those that have sensory impairments. I believe that technology is a
necessity for Occupational Therapy. I think that my philosophy in 10
years will be relatively the same. For my entire life, I have been
taught these values and personally believe in them. I practice this
belief in everything I do and wherever I go. In 10 years, I will gain
experience and education so my philosophy about the field may
change. This philosophy is expressed with complete honesty and is
developed from other philosophies as well as my own.
