Grade Level Fourth Grade

Learning Objective 4.5 The student will investigate and understand how plants and
animals, including humans, in an ecosystem interact with one
another and with the nonliving components in the ecosystem.
Key concepts include

1. a) plant and animal adaptations;


2. b) organization of populations, communities, and
ecosystems and how they interrelate;
3. c) flow of energy through food webs;
4. d) habitats and niches;
5. e) changes in an organism’s niche at various stages in its
life cycle; and
Content

6. f) influences of human activity on ecosystems.

Activity
1. I will begin class by going over the key components of
the ecosystem and the important terms and
information they will need to memorize. Before the
assignment is given I will make sure that several days
have been spent going over the new section of
materials and that a detailed packet of information has
been given out.
2. After I have gone over all of the information I will hand
out computers and ask my students to go on Kahoot.
Once everyone is logged on I will pull up a prepared set
of questions and explain that we will be playing a game
based on the information we have learned. Everyone
will be timed, and they will all be going head to head.
Once the questions have been completed and
everyone has had a chance to figure out how the
website works I will move on to my next assignment.
3. The students will form groups and work together to
come up with their own set of questions that adhere to
the information that was given in the packet. The
students will spend two science periods working

together on their questions. Each group will be


required to come up with ten questions each. Five
questions will be multiple choice and the other five will
be true or false. I will go around to make sure that
everyone’s questions and answers are accurate and
acceptable before they are finished.
4. Once each group is finished computers will be passed
back out and my students will be told to log back onto
Kahoot. Each group will go up one at a time and play
their set of questions on screen while their classmates
try to answer the questions.
