mediated technologies, communication continues to evolve. Two particular modes of communication is
the snail mail and instant messaging.

Let's take a look at the differences between snail mails and instant messaging. Basically, their main
difference is their speed of delivery and receipt. Snail mail is known for its slow speed since it requires
hours, days or even weeks in order to send, receive and send back letters and mail. The sender doesn't
have idea if their receiver has been logged in and has already received the letter, while in Instant
messaging, it has fast speed compare to snail mail because the receiver can receive a message on hand
and can easily respond to it. In snail mail, the communication is happening not in real time since there is
a lag between the time we sent the message and the time we received it. On the other hand, instant
messaging, communication is happening in real time since we have the ability to send and receive
messages everytime, everywhere we want to. They also differ on generation preference, instant
messaging is preferred to use by teens or today's generation and adults preffered to use snail mail. Since
each generation has difference digital age and we differ on which we find convenient to us. Aside from
their differences, they have also these similarities. They both spread ideas and messages at their own
pace. There is still the idea that with the use of these two, we are able to transfer information from one
source to another.

Snail mail and instant messaging are similar in different ways. First of all both are still used as of
today, however the amount of snail mails sent and received are now limited. Second, despite the
differences of how these messages are sent, both still helps in achieving communication. Instant
messaging allows users to send and receive messages as well as the snail mail. Third, both
communication also achieves a unique purpose. Snail mails is a traditional way of communicating and is
used to show formality and professionalism. They can be used in business and organizations where the
environment requires a proper way of communicating in order to be recognized. It also can be used for
emphasizing meaning. This is why love letter is still common as of today since it adds value. On the other
hand, instant messaging allows for the ease of access and quick response. Hence it can be used for
conversations or even for emergencies.
 (CRYSTAL) Culture in every country differs. Every country have their own unique characteristics
that other country doesn't have. In low context countries, people are likely be formal when addressing
other people. Like in Italy who use Mr. or Ms. or Mrs. in addressing others or sometimes they just call
each other's name even if that person is somewhat older than them. Also, in these countries they value
each other's privacy. However in high context countries, they preferred being in a group. Like Jasnerect
who would like to start a business with her boyfriend instead of starting a business on her own. In these
countries they value strong relationships.

(KENNETH) Elisa from Italy is considered to belong in a high context culture. Based on her
message, she asked a lot of questions about life story and background a person she talked to. She is
eager to give their opinions or advice in your situation. They tend to be expressive in her message and
she is quite affectionate and emotional. Their social structure are centralized because when they use
formal language , they use third person to recognize someone. Her communication style was
enthusiastic , lively and appreciative on the receiver of her message. Their culture places a greater
emphasis on individuals reputation or honour which involves a social approval. Their culture has a
capacity to accommodate different point of views and appreciate people with different interest. Italian's
culture focus on building relationship and their socialization is important on both formal and informal
level. On the other hand , Serene, who currently living in singapore belong to a low culture context
because her characteristic are work oriented and their culture is very productive and progressive. They
are focused on their work and they then to separate their personal issues from their duty. She also love
what she do. Her renponses are short but very clear and direct in answering every questions which is
one of the characteristic of a low context culture.

Accepting and understanding the differences of any culture, and embracing diversity can reduce
conflict and help team building in the workplace.
