Adjustment of MANUAL MAX. LIMITER for NABCO MG-800 governor
MANUAL MAX. LIMITER is incorporated in the fuel limiting function of the MG-800 governor.
This determines the operation upper limit position of the load indicator (LI) during the engine
in operation and the lamp is lighted, when LI reaches the upper limit position.
It is prohibited in principle to raise the set point of MANUAL MAX. (TEN KEY ADDRESS No.
99) higher to that set at ship's delivery. However, it is recommended to adjust the set point to
lower side taking into consideration of actual engine operating condition. Especially, at rough
sea, it is important to lower the set point of the MANUAL MAX LIMITER in order to prevent LI
from excessive fluctuation.
Note: In case of free governor operation, the governor tries to maintain the engine speed
constant, which causes excessive fluctuation of LI at rough sea due to large torque
variation. Even calm sea condition, LI may change suddenly due to shallow water
effect, steering, etc.
Excessive fluctuation of LI may cause excessive wear of the fuel control linkage pin /
bush. Also it should be noted that this can be the trigger of ring / liner problem and
develop into the excessive wear of the ring / liner.
The followings are the instructions for adjustment of MANUAL MAX. LIMITER (ADDRESS No.
99).
