NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE

ASSIGNMENT 2
4.1 Step 1- Create the scope.
Step 2- Create vendor classes within the scope created in step 1. These classes will be
created for different computers, printers and IP phones.
Step 3- Create 3 policies for computers, printers and IP phones respectively.
Step 4- In order to add the vendor classes for printers, computers and IP phones, OR
operand will be used in each case.

4.2 - In order to set up the IP configuration, DHCP client reservations can be used.
- MAC address can be identified for allocating an IP address.
- One of the advantage of using DHCP client reservation is that, every time the printers
will be allocated the same IP address.
- Also, reconfiguring the scope will enable the printers to receive the updated
configuration upon lease renewal. Thus, printers can be configured.

5.1 One can install WINS as enabling WINS installs and registers jetpack.exe by default.
After the successful installation of this feature, command jetpack dhcp.mdb temp.mdb
can be run from folder C:\Windows\System32\dhcp.

5.2 Solution recommended is configuring the DHCP Failover. One will require two servers
to complete this task.
Steps-
1. Right click on each scope and choose Configure Failover.
(NOTE- This is done to establish a failover relationship among two servers)
2. By default, mode is Load Sharing.
Load Sharing mode will allow the servers to deal with bigger loads. In case of failure of
one server, second server will manage the loads.

6.1 Solution recommended is to deploy the IPAM in hybrid topology. Hybrid topology
means installing one central IPAM and deploying dedicated IPAM servers.
6.2 1. Install Windows Server 2016 on one server.
2. Connect adatum.com domain to the server.
3. Install IPAM from roles and features.
NOTE- all DHCP and DNS servers must be running any of the following- Windows
Server 2008 with SP2, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows
Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2016. .Net Framework 4.0 must also be installed.

7.1 Help desk personnel- IPAM DHCP Reservations Administrator role (This is done using
an access policy)
Server team- IPAM Administrators group (This is done using an access policy)
Audit team- IPAM users group and IPAM IP Audit Administrators group (This is done
using Computer Management)
