“You cannot give if you don’t have”.

- Ms. Ana Mae Pelegrino

I am blessed and honored that I met this kind of teacher. According to her, being a
teacher is being a builder of student’s future empire. She refers “future empire” into the highest
attainment of a learner. But how can a teacher build a student’s future empire? Through what?
Giving emphasis to her quote, it tells that what a teacher may contain is what also a student’s
contain, teacher serves as the transfusion of learning.

Being a student teacher of today’s generation is never a joke. You will end up losing
yourself of thinking how to jive your students in order to gain respect. Knowing the fact that the
diverse of student must be taken into account to create harmonious learning. With this,
patience, understanding, and perseverance are required to do so.

It was a shocking revelation for me along the way of our out campus journey (MNHS
base) as a student teacher. Worriedness manifested because of hesitation to myself that I am not
fully equipped. But fortunately there are more teachers who encouraging me to do well in my
practice teaching and also those students in every year level that I handled. They gave me extra
strength to become a teacher someday. We have a task to complete five demonstrations. During
our first rotation I was assigned to handle grade 7 (regular class), the students there were so
hyperactive and I have a hard moment to deal with them. To surpass this circumstance what I
did was showed to them that I have the authority inside the classroom. For me, it is a natural
thing for a grade 7 students to act naughty, it is just that I don’t have much patience at that time
since it is first time. I am happy that along the process I build the values of patience, my
cooperating teacher said that I overcome their behavior and I feel relieved and satisfied after
heard that. When our second rotation I was assigned to grade 9 (Science high class) I am happy
because they were so participative and they showed respect toward me so it was an
overwhelming feeling after all. They gave beyond ideas and share experiences in related to the
topics that we had. I appreciated their love and support toward me knowing that they were
kind of students that highly intellect. I never thought they believed all the words that I uttered. I
can sense their interest to learn my class discussion. And when the time came for our rotation to
another grade I felt hurt and missed them already. My last rotation was in grade 7 again
(Special Program in Journalism) , it happened that their adviser was not around for almost four
days due to her other commitment as a coach in particular competition. I took over her class
and make sure that all is well. What we did in the first day we met was that we continue to
discuss their last lesson and in the following days we conducted a report. I let them discover the
lesson so my role there was to facilitate and after they report I add on and expound the idea of
the lesson. And I gave them a quiz after they presented their reports. Since Ms. Azarcon was not
around so I handled her class.
When our grand demonstration is approaching I felt nervous at that time since I don’t
have idea what to do but I am favored and blessed that I was assigned to this section (Romulo)
and to my cooperating teacher Ms. Azarcon. They were my biggest fans at that very moment,
they helped me throughout my grand demonstration. I may not be the best teacher, I have my
lapses during my teaching, but they never let me feel that I am a worthless and insensible
student teacher. Praises and appreciation I received to them instead. Now, I have the courage to
become a teacher because of those people who believed in me.

There is a saying that “you get there when you get there”, and now I can finally say that
they are the real most valuable player in the community so let us never underestimate the work
of a teacher because you never know the real score behind their efforts and it is not easy being
one of them in honestly speaking.

To wrap the experiences in my out campus, a teacher must have an open mind to give
meaningful learnings and a pure heart to give inspiration while learning. We should give all our
best (student teacher) because through giving there is a blessing. We may fade in this world but
our works remain remarkable to the hearts of others.

In behalf of all the struggles that I have encountered in dealing with my students, I am
thankful to our almighty God for He has given me the courage to face them all.

What a wonderful experience!!
