a) Give 3 examples of positive reinforcement
strategies that have been used.
- Verbal praises and encouragement such as
saying; good job, you can do it.
- Encouraging students to initiate and speak
English.
- Encourages students to help each other
through group task.
- Enhance their critical thinking through a
game.
- Good usage of language that suits student’s
level.
- Clear instructions and time management.
- Good assessments during the lesson and
usage of guided questions.
b) What was efficient about these strategies?
Encouraging the students during the lesson
helped the students to focus and pay attention,
which helped them understanding the lesson
well. In addition, asking them to help each other
build a good relationship in between them, which
creates a good atmosphere in the classroom.
Moreover, using the proper language made the
students understand the rule clearly as well as
the directions. In addition, using different
questions in order to guide the students made
a) Give 3 examples of how differentiation has been
used to cater to all learners including those with
special needs.
She has no special need student but did some
differentiated activities. One of them was the
worksheet, where the students needed to write
some random descriptions of a person, which she
could do it in more engaging way like asking them
to share it with each other.
The second differentiating activity she did is the
mind mapping, where the students needed to
brainstorm before they write the essay. The
students were engaged in this part since they are
applying the first step of writing, which is gathering
main and supportive points.
The third activity was the main one, where the
students needed to individually write the full essay
using the descriptions they did during the
classroom.
b) What was efficient about these strategies?
Making different activities for different level helped
the students to reach the proper level of
understanding the lesson. Where she started her
lesson with a simple activity using simple describing
game to remind them about the usage of
antecedent pronoun and assess the lower lever
 her able to assess them during the lesson and
helped the students to understand more.
c) How could these strategies have been improved?
She could use more activities that lead to make
the students active during the lesson. For
example, she could ask them to walk and share
their essay with their classmates instead of ask
some of them to present it traditionally, where
not all of them were paying attention to their
classmates. In addition, she could do more
formative assessments such as asking them to
describe each other and let them guess who that
described person is, this will make them more
engaged in the classroom besides able to use
their description in their writing essay.

which was to brainstorm as peers. Asking them to
brainstorm made the students able to collect some
points, which definitely helped them in the final
task, where most of them were able to write full
essay properly.
c) How could these strategies have been improved?
These strategies could be improved if she used
more assessing task and managed time
appropriately. Where she could ask them to share
their descriptions before asking them to start
writing. In addition, time management plays an
essential role in the lesson, where you lesson
would be conveyed properly if you managed your
time and divided each task in a proper time.
Furthermore, for the last task, she could minimized
the time to 10-15 minutes, where it will be a
challenging task and they could have an extra time
to share their writing. The purpose of this strategy
is to encourage the students to write since they are
sharing their ideas and thoughts, which they love
because their writings are not going to only be
corrected but listened to.

Reflection (to be completed after discussion of Peer Review with colleague):
Observing a new friend in her writing lesson was an honor for me. I experienced new things, which were her
teaching strategies and activities. After the lesson, I had discussed the lesson with my colleague and shared my
notes with her, where she agreed in some points such as varying different activities In order to make the students
active during the lesson, which would made them participated more. In addition, she agreed with the point of
managing time more properly, where she could limit the last task, which was writing the whole essay in order to
give the students the opportunity to share what they wrote. Furthermore, she could made the lesson more
engaging through asking the students to walk around the classroom in order to play a small game, which could be
describe a person and they have to guess who is the described person, this would made them more interested
and excited to use these descriptions in their writing. However, as we discussed, having some differentiation
assessments during the lesson helped the students to reach a good level of understanding. Where she had some
verbal questions, which guided them properly, as well as the supportive worksheets to mind map that combined
both grammar and writing, which is a challenging one and leaded the students to critical thinking and them
implementations of that mind mapping through the essay-writing task.
