Explanation: The reason why I chose this lesson plan is because it was straight forward with a
clear vision that tied the whole lesson to the learning objective. I felt the activities/ worksheets
correlated well with the lesson overall. It was all on topic and it can be easily modified by adding
In my opinion, what makes this lesson plan a strong sorce is that all details are planned
and thought of thoroughly. I appreciate that the estimated time for each section was
planned. Not to mention that the enrichment and support topics are really great to boost
the lesson.
I want to use this lesson plan to teach about the digestive system because I feel it is
appropriate for the grade level and I can follow it easily while making parts of it my own.
provide somewhat of a visual representation, but I think for them to get the full effect of
what the food actually goes through when it’s being digested, a video would grab their
attention better and it would give them a better understanding. My hook/attention getter is
the video The Magic School Bus- For Lunch. I found it on this website:
while watching. I must make sure the speakers are working properly for this so we can
If the school doesn’t allow access to this site, I will have to download this video
and copy it onto a USB and plug it into the computer to play it on the smart board.
I can use technology to scan in the worksheets onto my classroom computer and display
the worksheets onto the classroom smart board. This way, I can help follow along on the
worksheet with the classroom to keep us on track. This does not change the plan for
The last way to improve this lesson using technology is to introduce an app to further the
learning. Apps will be downloaded onto tablets beforehand. An app I found that was free

On this app, you can click onto any part in the digestive system and it gives you a 3D
view of it along with extra information about that part. In place of the worksheet titled,
“What Happens When You Eat,” we would explore the app and write down 1 interesting
fact about the small intestine, large intestine, esophagus, liver, and stomach and share it
with the class and I will elaborate on that fact. I would then send the worksheet we
Outcomes: For my outcomes, I hope to give my students a better understanding of how the
digestive system works visually. I hope for them to remember where the parts of the digestive
system are. They will be able to label/ draw the digestive system if I asked them to and tell me
with 90% accuracy on a quiz what each part does. I can assess the level of success with a quiz.
Or I can give them a blank piece of paper and tell them to draw and label it for me again with
90% accuracy. I think my students will be able to succeed because I provided many visual
resources for them to use. I do plan on actually doing the enrichment and support portion of the
