My View on my Writing

Writing has changed for me by taking this course because I learned new ways to express

myself as a writer. My thoughts of writing is that you can create your own way and you can use

different genres that relate to your topic. As a writer you get to choose your audience and share

what you want them to perceive. Using rhetoric has helped me get to know what my audience

can see, when I use ethos I am using the information that I got it from the internet and using

pathos is different because I am showing my emotions what I wanted to persuade on. I never

thought I would use rhetorical appeals I was not taught and now I enjoy using it. I never thought

that I would enjoy this class because I never liked writing and it is something that was hard for

me to have always done.

My goal in the future is I want to be a good writer because I want to be able to write

poems. I set one goal this semester and it was learning about myself as a writer, I found out that

I am straight forward to the point and I am good at explaining my point-of-view. I am willing to

learn about something new and I am open minded. In the future I want to be able to publish my

papers for my research classes by what I learned in this class.

The six threshold concept have helped me this semester to improve on my writing. The

first one is writing and I see writing as a tool that you can be you, write what you have on your

mind. I learned that it does not matter how well you can write, it is about how well you want
your reader to understand. The second threshold concept is rhetoric, I have used all the rhetoric

appeals, I used so many rhetorical strategies to put together in the informative project. The first

one, I used was ethos as my rhetorical appeal because I was finding information for my project

and it has influenced my project in general. It was hard to use pathos because it would not be

informative. The third threshold concept is action and for me I choose to do different genres

about an issue that I was bothered by. I wanted to show how plastic is a huge effect on our

environment and health. The first genre was an open letter. Open Letter. My audience was the

plastic users and I was explaining that our animals in the sea are dying because we choose to use

plastic. The second genre was an infographic. Plastic Waste 3 . My audience was the plastic

production and the main point of it was showing the effects about plastic and plastic is not being

recycle the correct way. The third genre was a powerpoint. Plastic Pollution on Marine Life and

Environment 2. My audience was for everyone that is using plastic can stop by making little

changes and we can save the environment and health. The projects have helped me understand

the issues I wanted to learn about the world. The fourth concept is deliberation, it was hard for

me to make good choices but without the teachers help, I would not have gotten the help I

needed. It took me time to get things together for all of the projects I did but I learned how to

manage my time. The revision were always hard for me and choosing what is best for my paper.

The fifth threshold concept is engagement matters to me because it has helped to get better to

share what I learned and it was amazing that my classmates got to see what I have researched on.

I was getting better every time that we had to do a project and finding ways to get better. The

sixth threshold concept is consistency and for me is that I like to learn new ideas and using them

most of the time is the best thing that I have ever done. The rhetorical appeals, use of images,
getting information on the internet or reading articles, I always use them and I consider that

consistency.

The greatest take-away in this class was that I learned and will use it in the future is how

to make an infographic and I would use it in my other classes, or in the future if I need to work

on an Informative project. The second take-away was I learned how to use the school library

database research because before I did not know how to utilize my resources and the librarian

showing us how to shorten words like changing words. The last take-away was learning about

plastic waste myself because I was not familiar with most of the things that caused it and how it

is affecting our environment and animals. I will continue to research more about plastic and for

the future I will be helping to volunteer at organizations that are against plastic.
