ABSTRACT

A pious soul feels for man, beast, even plant as well. Similarly the sacred heart feels for the inanimate object also.
Here, lies the superiority of the blessed genius who appears as an angel in this mundane world, again and again
throughout the generations, to rescue the ailing humanity, as is believed by one school of thought. Here lies the uniqueness
of the empathy rather than unique empathy.

KEYWORDS: - Empathy, Share, Imagine, Emotion, Thought, Feeling

INTRODUCTION

Creative writing is based more on manifestation rather than on expression. It does not inform rather reveals, so
this style of writing bears no reference. The best creative writing is critical, and the best critical writing is creative. The
present article is an outcome of creative writing meant for lay readers. As such free style is the methodology adopted so
that pleasure of reading can be enjoyed by the common mass. As you may know Francis Bacon (1561-1626), the immortal
essayist, wrote many essays and notably, “Of Love”, “Of Friendship”, “Of Ambition”, “Of Studies”, etc.The myriad-
minded genius rightly pointed out that all the words of the dictionary can be the themes of essays one can write. But little
has been done, in this regard since his death, in order to finish his unfinished monumental works. In fact Bacon's way
of presentation, i.e., his unique style kindled the imagination already in me and encouraged me as well to write essays, in
the light of creative writing, thus to get relief through Catharsis.

OF EMPATHY

Empathy is the ability to imagine and share another person’s feelings, experience, etc. For example: The writer’s
imaginative empathy with his subject is clear. There is a natural love and empathy between them.

Empathy, frompsychological point of view, is intellectual identification with or vicarious experiencing of the
feelings, thoughts, or attitudes of another person. It is the imaginative ascribing to an object, as a natural object or a work
of art, feelings or attitudes present in oneself.

Empathy is the projection of one’s own personality into the personality of another in order to understand the
person better. It is ability to share in another’s emotions, thoughts, or feelings. It is the projection of one’s own personality
into an object, with the attribution to the object of one’s own emotions, responses, etc.

Empathy is the power of entering into another’s personality and imaginatively experiencing his experience. It is
the power of entering into the feeling or spirit of something especially a work of art and so appreciating it fully.

Psychologically, empathy is the power of projecting one’s personality into and so fully comprehending object of
contemplation.

Empathy is the power of identifying oneself mentally with and so fully comprehending a person or object of
contemplation.

Thus, empathy is intellectual or emotional identification with another.

Only a sensible soul can perceive it and respond accordingly. A kind-hearted person or a Good Samaritan is
enriched with this attribute. Only a blessed soul is enlightened by this immortal light. It is an added quality. A hardened
soul can never feel it. Since a person gazes for long to the person or concerned object it becomes absent-minded or trots
elsewhere. It seems the sensible soul exchanges feelings with animate or inanimate object thus involved.

Empathy resembles or resonates with art, literature or songs.

It is difficult to make unwilling horse drink water. Similarly, a person cannot direct or dictate to feel for others. It
is an internal urge. The outcome of empathy is just like a spring that comes out of a hill spontaneously. Goodness insists to
love near and dear one. One is laurelled with greatness when the person shows empathy to known or unknown i.e. people
from all walks of life.

Two lovers enjoy empathy only when they are either made for each other or mad for each other or both
simultaneously. Unexpected empathy is seen when a person commits suicide when the dear or near one dies. This death
may be suicide or natural one. Whatever it may be the lover cannot bear the separation. The person believes in reunion in
the heaven. Thus the two souls reunite after death as is believed by a pious soul.

Some religions believe in rebirth. The person thinks that after death they will come back again in this mundane
world as per divine will. Someone wants not to come back again in this world thus to experience uncertainty, injustice and
fear.

Someone suffers from rebirth till the nirvana i.e., beatitude attained by extinction of individuality and desires with
release from effects of karma, is attained thereby. For rebirth, as is believed by Hinduism and Buddhism, occurs repeatedly
as per karma or commitment of sins and continues till the effect of karma is vanished totally and thereby entire sin
eventually becomes zero.

A successful actor is one who can convert himself/herself with the concerned character. Then acting becomes
natural. Acting becomes lively only when the audience thinks and fells alike with the actor thereby the character itself.

A tender soul being driven by empathy directs and dictates the victim and rescues from ailment. Sometimes it
becomes ill and the person enjoys recovery. It enjoys pain for the gain of its dear one. Here lies the greatness of the tender
soul.

Highest empathy is seen in case of mother’s affection. Mother can do and does everything for the welfare of her
children. Others can bid farewell but mother thinks for welfare round the clock for her issue. That’s why mother is the
greatest of all.

Everybody is so busy that none has time to divert attention. A person gets little or no time at all after finishing his
duties. Man has to spend much toil to confirm his daily meals. Sometimes he has to starve. All is running for a single post.
This crisis rendered a man emotionless. Man, in fact, has become a beast only. As such, in this jet age empathy has become
merely a fossil.

Of Empathy 25

Two persons may think or feel alike. It is called assimilation of feelings. It is the union of two souls. If two
persons, staying at two different places, think for each other simultaneously then they call it telepathy. Man is mortal. They
say soul is immortal. If one of the two persons dies then the two souls communicate through planchette. It seems
assimilation, telepathy and planchette all these are the outcome or extended versions of empathy.

CONCLUSION

A pious soul feels for man, beast, even plant as well. Similarly the sacred heart feels for the inanimate object also.
Here, lies the superiority of the blessed genius who appears as an angel in this mundane world, again and again throughout
generations, to rescue the ailing humanity, as is believed by one school of thought. Here lies the uniqueness of the
empathy rather than unique empathy.
