Exhibitions, Dance, Theatre, Concerts, Fashion, Hairstyling,

Cinema, Circus, Cooking, Clubbing......
In conjunction with the exhibition "The Silk Road", Lille will be
tuning into UK time. From the 1st to the 12th of December 2010,
London will be setting the pace of life in the Lille Métropole.
Go from King’s Road to Oxford Street or Camden Town in a
few hours: the new English scene will be in town with video
at the Espace Croisé, dance at the Opera, theatre and circus
during the day at the Théâtre du Nord and the Prato, while
evenings will be musical with the National Orchestra of Lille,
or pulsing with electro, reggae and funk at the Maisons Folies,
the Aéronef and Le Fresnoy. Not forgetting a whole weekend
at the Tri Postal with Keith Khan Productions, La Braderie de
l'Art by Art Point M in Roubaix or choirs performing at Houplin-
Ancoisne.
Put on a bowler or a punk hairstyle, try out London fashions
and sample Fish & Chips between two exhibitions. Go British

ROAD EXHIBITION

Saatchi

2010
16 JAN. > Tri Postal, LILLE (f)

New Chinese, Indian and Middle Eastern Art

from The Saatchi Gallery.
For the first time in France, the London based Saatchi
Gallery will present more than 60 works from its famous
contemporary art collection, assembled for the exhibition
entitled "The Silk Road" [La Route de la Soie]. The event is
organised by lille3000 and will take place at the Tri Postal,
from October 20th to January 16th 2011.

The Saatchi Gallery, founded by Charles Saatchi in 1985,

now occupies the Duke of York’s HQ in Chelsea, London. At
70,000 square feet, it is the world’s largest entirely free entry
contemporary art gallery, attracting over one and a quarter
million visitors a year.

By championing the work and largely unseen artists, as well

as displaying rarely exhibited work by international names,
the Saatchi Gallery has built up one of the most stimulating
and up-to-date art collections in the world. Over the last two
and a half decades its pioneering exhibitions have showcased
work by over 200 artists and provided a unique springboard for
young unknowns to bring their work to a wider audience, launch
their careers and, as with the likes of Damien Hirst and Jeff
Koons, go on to acquire international fame. For many years the
Saatchi Gallery has had a major influence on the international
contemporary art scene, influencing and inspiring both the
current and next generation of artists and art lovers.

d’Imaginaire 8 PM

Seeing in all colours, hearing in all languages! The programme

of this BABELONDRES evening in the Condition Publique
venue renamed as “Caisse de Propaga-sons” should take us
far away from standard French: words will invade the venue,
whether Arabic, Polish, Picard, Flemish, English, Senegalese,
or from countries that do not exist. Reggae, sound poetry,
French chanson or electro will tumble forth in the music of
an English dub poet, a Belgian performer, a Polish slammer
or a Paris barker. We’re also expecting you, wherever you
come from, to come with your words... We will try to improvise
together in all languages.

Stéphane Gornikowski – Cie Générale d’Imaginaire :

“I think what connects Roubaix and London in the end is the
diversity of people’s origins and the diversity of languages.”

Rather than being just a French-English encounter, we would

like to expand to other languages, other local communities, or
with the Compagnie Générale d’Imaginaire.
An evening BABELONDRES dedicated to language diversity.

Plan-Séquence classics
London is the third most popular city in the world for film
shoots. While cinema is inspired by the unique atmosphere of
the British capital, it also produces many clichés (the mystery
of the London fog, romantic Notting Hill and so on).
The selection of films below allow us to see London differently,
but also to enjoy the post-war atmosphere, “Swinging London”
or the Thatcher years.

> Passeport pour Pimlico (Henry Cornelius, 1949): 1ST TO 7 dEc.

> Les Forbans de la nuit (Jules Dassin, 1950): 8 TO 14 dEc.
> Ipcress, danger immédiat (Sidney J. Furie, 1965): 8 TO 21 dEc.
