1 Preface
This document will give a rough overview about the necessary customizing for the SAP MRS
solution. It focuses on the necessary steps to get the MRS working after an installation. It does not
cover other customizing steps e.g. to adopt the MRS to personnel needs.
For this, and for a detailed coverage, please see the available KW documentation.
2 Version
Installation of MRSS SP02 is necessary before configuration steps. At this moment we
do NOT support MRSS SP03.
3 Overview
To get the MRS running after installation, basically it’s necessary to execute the following steps:
After completion of these steps, you will be able to work with the MRS in its default configuration.
This means that you will use the pre-delivered profiles for the workplace. Of course it is possible to
change the look of the MRS in many ways. For a description of these settings, please see the
available KW documentation.
You will find the customizing for the WFM Core included into the MRS customizing transaction
/MRSS/IMG. If the transaction does not exist, you can also reach the customizing for
the MRS by entering the SRMGH transaction and selecting “Multiressourcen-
Einsatzplanung” for display.
The first thing to setup would be the RFC destination for the MRS system. That
means to define where the MRS can find the WFM Core. It is recommended to
install MRS and WFM on the same systems. In this case, you need to create an
empty entry here. Otherwise enter the destination address.
After setting up the WFM address for the MRS system, you need at least to let the WFM system
know where the MRS and HR systems are located. You need to enter the HR system even if you
do not plan to use it.
Two applications need to be defined to have the WFM work properly: one for the
MRS (CRMSV) and one for the HR (PTLRP). You should enter both systems here,
even if you do not plan to use HR. Just enter the logical system number here, where
the application is installed on.
This should be filled during installation, so you just need to check if everything is in
place. The pre-defined types should look like shown in the following drawing.
Please see the delivered MRS documentation and KW documentation for more details.
The next thing to check is the assignment of the defined time specifications to the
resources. Also, they should already in place by the installation and look like
following:
The defined times for e.g. personnel resources should initially look like shown here:
Last point to customize here is the transfer of the MRS Status into the WFM core.
This is needed to map the MRS ones to the technical status from the WFM system.
You need to do this only once during setup of the system. Except you add
additional status to the MRS. However, it will not harm the system if you transfer
the status twice.
Configuring the MRS for the first time means to set up for which order operation, resources and
tools you want to use the MRS Planning Board. By default, there are profiles for the layout, checks
and alerts so you can start working.
As already mentioned above, this guide focuses only on the settings needed to get the MRS work.
If you want to change also the profiles defining the planning board, please see the available
documentation.
Path: Multi Resource Scheduling -> Set Up Scheduler Workplace -> Workplace Profiles
-> Check Profile -> Define Check Profiles
Settings:
Change the type of to E-Error (The last column which is not shown in the picture)
Change the type of the first entry to I-Information and the others to E-Error (The last
column which is not shown in the picture)
A very important question is, if you want to maintain your personal resources using an HR system
or if you want to use business partners with the role employee. Maintain means in this case also to
deal with the qualifications and working times for an employee.
We do not want to discuss here the advantages or disadvantages. Depending on your choice you
have to do different setup steps.
If you want to use HR, you need to tell this the MRS system. For this, please use the view
/MRSS/V_RSG_PAR. If HR is currently not active, the view will contain no entries.
After telling the MRS you will use HR data, you need to transfer the HR data into the WFM Core
system. You need to do this every time the HR data has changed, so it’s a good idea to use a batch
job running. Eg. every night.
qualifications and availability times into the WFM core for use by the MRS. Before
you run the report, you need to customize it in table PTLRPRC2SP.
In the example the HR availability times assigned to the profile “WORK” are transferred as working
times, and the profile “WORK_BREAK” is transferred as break times. For a detailed description, see
note 509514.
While running the report, you can define what the report should do (transfer mode) and for which
time period (period) you want the data to be transferred. Also you can restrict the resources to be
transferred by using the provided selection fields (selection).
You can check if the resources are created by using the “read availability” option only.
The resulting list will look like this:
6.2.1 Create
Using the transaction PPOCE and PPOME will bring you to the maintenance screen where you
can do all the work.
You need to build up the structure matching your organizational model and then assign your used
work centers to the corresponding organizational unit. Also, you need to create positions and
assign employees.
7.1 Pre-requisite:
GUI 7.1 must be installed for the 6 control capacity report.
To activate the MRS-DBM the “Uncomment” radio button shall be set, the Request/Task
shall be added to and after it the Execute button shall be pressed. This will uncomment all
of the necessary code to activate MRS in DBM. Development keys are necessary for it.
This new item category is to be added to the existing item category schema “CS”.
Define Layout
The layout SAP0 should come with the delivery customizing.
IMG->Logistics Execution->Dealer Business Management->Order->Interface Control-
>Layout->Define Layout
Change the default tab page to for the record “CS SAP0” to “7”
Please ensure that Layout SAP0 is used for the order types you want to use in appointment
Scheduling.
Define Subsreen
The subscreens should come with the delivery customizing.
IMG->Logistics Execution->Dealer Business Management->Order->Interface Control-
>Subscreen->Define Subscreen
This entry is used to find the right item detail screen for the new item category “Replacement
car”

This transaction allows you to define the corresponding Labor Value Groups which represents the
type of work which has to be done. This is directly linked to the labor value catalogue
This is for the Overview of the workshop. Out of the labor value specified in the appointment we
determine a Labor Value Group. Every Labor Value is allocated to a Labor Value Group
maintained in transaction /DBM/LBROP.
Per Plant you assign this labor value group to an organizational unit, which has been defined in
transaction ppome.
Her you can define for how much hours a replacement car is rented out.
1. Click on the folder ‘Color detail of the properties of the graph’. The following screen
appears.
2. Click on ‘New Entries’ button. It will change the screen to editable mode.
3. Select the property from the drop down and the color from the other drop down and
save it.
4. Save it.
5. Now select the team for which the color needs to be specified and double click on the
‘Team colors’ folder.
6. Now click on the ‘New entries’ tab and specify the Team ID and the Color from the drop down
list.
7. Save it.
2. Now click on ‘New entries’ button and enter the team Id, day and the buffer limit for
that day.
2. Click on ‘New Entries’ and enter the team Id, Date of exception and the buffer limit.
3. Save the entry.
3. Save it
The Organizational Unit must be in format OrgUnitType & space & OrgUnitNumber.
For DBM OrgUnitType is always O e.g. O 500000127.
The record where the organizational unit is equal with <*> is necessary, because in that
case it is not necessary to define a unique record for every organizational unit. The record
should look like the following:
