Universal Design for Learning (UDL)

UDL is used in this lesson because it’s offering a new way to create information. Students get more involved in
their learning because they are creating their own content. All types of learners can create their own things
based on they best way they learn. This will enhance learning because it is offering the presentation of
differentiated ways of learning that other students could benefit from.
Lesson idea implementation:
This lesson will be opened by the teacher asking students what day and night is and what is the difference. I
will present to the class the movie I made about night and day. Students will be able to ask questions or give
their thoughts on the movie. I will then give students the opportunity to create their own movie!
The class will be divided into two groups: night and day. They will be tasked with the assignment to create a
movie about things they might see during the day or night. Students will be given a tablet to complete the
assignment. I will help with putting images and getting it into the correct format. The students will have 2
days to complete their movie. Upon completion we will have a “movie day” segment of class where students
can “premiere” their creation to the rest of the class.

Importance of technology:

MultiMedia Tools
Technology in the classroom is extremely important. For one, it is used to complete the assignment, but
technology offers a variety of ways to complete assignments in creative ways. Without the technology
students would not be as interested to do the assignment.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy:

Only pre-approved sites from the teacher will be allowed to be used for the assignment. A list of these sites
will be provided. To minimize risks, I will be monitoring the sites and what the students are looking at. Parents
and administrators will be made aware ahead of time about the assignment and the sites that will be used.
Students will follow the proper internet safety rules and be aware of copyright rules.
Reflective Practice:
This assignment and lesson will positively impact student learning. Including technology into the classroom and into
lessons will engage my students. Technology offers new a creative way for students to learn. To further extend this
lesson, students could create movies about day and night and go even further into detail and discuss the Sun and Moon.
This technology can be used for any subject for any grade level.
