Time  Content/Description  Notes 
Set Up:  
● Every student gets one piece of parchment 
paper and a popsicle stick. In the middle of 
the table there will be a bowl filled with 
rice, glue and food colouring.  
● “So today we will be making Christmas 
1:25 pm 
10 minutes 
ornaments to put on your Christmas tree, and   
they are going to have your pictures in 
them!”  
● “Remember that in art you are allowed to 
get messy so do not worry if your hands get a 
little sticky or even green” 
 
Doing the Craft:  
● Everyone will get a lump of the rice mixture 
1:35pm 
that they must shape into the shape of a 
45 minutes    
  wreath.  
● “Does anyone know what a christmas wreath 
looks like?” 
● *Put up picture of a wreath on the smart 
board for the students to reference* 
● Students will create a wreath out of the rice 
by making a flat circle and then making a 
hole in the center (donut shape) 
● Put paper clips into the wreath before it 
dries to make them into ornaments 
● While the wreaths are drying, students can 
pick out their jingle bells, bows and cutting 
their pictures out of paper.  
● Once the wreaths dry we will glue in our 
pictures, glue on our decorations, and put 
string through the paper clips.  
 
Clean up: 
● Put your finished wreath on the back wall to 
2:20 pm  dry  
 
5 minutes  ● Clean up the work spaces and put away the 
string, bells and bows
