E Information and Description Assessment

Engagement Students will be introduced to the Weebly website tool. Students


will look at various aspects of the website design for several sites
and determine which parts are mandatory and which are simply
there for “fluff.” Students will search songs, video clips and picart
to embed into their websites as well as YouTube clips.
Students will take all information and resources found and
embed those into a breakdown of 4 pages per website for each
group. Those pages will be in reference towards: Characters,
Plot, and Vocabulary and Themes/Motifs/Symbols of the novel.

Exploration Students will work individually to create a mock website


containing information on Nathaniel Hawthorne’s most acclaimed
work, The Scarlet Letter.
Students will work to create the site and publish it within a 5 day
time line.
Students will first begin by researching Nathaniel Hawthorne,
The Scarlet Letter, the Puritan Religion and the Salem Witch
Trials. Students will create mock slides that will serve as
visionary boards during the creation process.

Explanation I will model each phase of the assignment from research to


putting the project together each step of the way. I will model
higher order thinking questions by providing a detailed list of
examples that pertain to level I, II and III questions that should be
embedded as well as answered throughout the completion of the
project. Students will be assessed periodically throughout the
duration of the project to ensure that each student is making
corrections where needed and staying on track.
