Students will:
1. Demonstrate an understanding of when to use capital letters
ASSESSMENTS (How I will know students have achieved the objective(s))
 Students are able to answer the questions correctly during the game of Capitalization BUMP
 Students remember the different components to the acronym M.I.N.T.S.

Prior to the Lesson MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT


 Print out questions and cut them out  Capitalization BUMP Game
 Print off answer sheets  Bingo place markers
 Print off worksheets  Pencil
PROCEDURE
Introduction Time
 Review when you are to use capital letters through introducing them to the acronym “M.I.N.T.S”
using the PowerPoint presentation
o M – Months
o I – The letter I 10 minutes
o N – Names
o T – Titles
o S – Start of sentence
Body Time
 Follow PowerPoint and begin to introduce the game Capitalization BUMP
 Remind students that the directions will stay on the board and are also on the top of the BUMP
game board
 Tell students when I say go to get in a group of two or three and send one group member up to
come get the game supplies
25 minutes
o BUMP Board game
o Bingo chips
o Question cards
o And record sheets for each group member
 Once they receive the game supplies, they can begin to play the game
Closure Time
 End lesson by having students clean up and then return to their seats
 Proceed by asking students what each letter from M.I.N.T.S. stands for 5 minutes
 After, have them get ready for recess and head on out!

Do something quiet at desk if they finish early
