On Tuesday, 5th of October I had my second teaching practice lesson with KG2A.

My math lesson was about patterns, the outcomes are:

1) Mastered students will be able to: Copy simple repeating pattern

2) Developing students will be able to: copy a simple repeating pattern.

3) Emerging students will be able to: attempt to copy a simple repeating pattern

I integrated science and English to my lesson, science was about the fruits, and English was about the

letter O.

What I did well in my opening was I started with classroom rules, I ask questions about their

knowledge in English, I sked them “what is the letter of the week” then I show an orange, and

pictures of octopus and ostrich.

For science I asked students to name the fruits, orange, apple, banana, watermelon. Then I start with

math, I make ABAB pattern using the cubes, red, blue, red, blue. I choose Fteam and Asma randomly

from ClassDojo to come and make ABAB pattern using circles and the flower toys. While Asma and

Fteam working on their pattern I make ABAB pattern with the rest of the class using bananas and

apples I asked Khawla to come she was little bit confused, so I asked her to come and make it, she did

it well. After Asma and Fteam finished they share their pattern with the rest of the class.

Activity 1: shapes activity.

In this activity students was copy and repeating the patterns. This activity was easy students

were able to copy the pattern the saw and the make their own ABAB pattern. I had to take the

papers so they can do it, they keep coping the pattern that in the paper. Ryoof, Mohammed

and Roudah were able to do ABC pattern, I was so happy of them. I asked students “can you

tell me where is the ABAB pattern here?”, and they were able to answer.

Activity 2: Ice Cream play dough

Students in this activity were copy the pattern. Each student has a different pattern, so they start

looking at the colors they have in their paper. Layan is one of the master students in the class she

make her ABAB patter correctly. I asked her “what if I add another color beside red and blue?”

She was little bit confused then I make the beginning of the ABC pattern. I put red blue then green,

the I said “red, blue, green” then I repeat it “red, blue, green, red, blue, green,” without using the play

dough then I asked her to do it and she did it right, I had high expectation that she can do it.

Sultan and Futam also did well, I asked them where is ABAB pattern the answer right, they tell me

what the colors are. Saeed’s answer was “A, B, A, B purple, yellow, purple, yellow”.

Activity 3: Tops of bottle

Students in this activity had completed the pattern using the tops of bottle. Students chosen

the first 2 patterns (red, blue, red, blue) and they have to complete it. Shamma and Khawla

were able to make ABC pattern, I had high expectations for both of them, the other students

were able to make ABAB pattern.

Hamdan is a special needs student, I tried to involve him in the activity, he first went to the

carpet then my MST tell me to let him set for a while because if I ask him to stand he may

cry so I let him for 3 minutes, then I call his name to come and he did, I was so happy that he

respond. I make the start for him I choose green and blue, then I hold two tops in my hand, I

tried 13 times tell he get it right my MST D Miss Hamda was so surprised and happy that he

got the right answer and he can repeat the pattern, I was so happy for Hamdan he get better

day by day.

Activity 4: play dough stick

In this activity students had made ABAB pattern using paly dough. Students chosen the

colors they want and start make a pattern. Thyab had some difficulties so I bring the circles

and put red and yellow then I asked him to complete the pattern and he did it correctly. I tell
him he have to do the same with the same using the play dough and the stick. I sat next to

him to see if he gets it, he actually makes it correctly.

In the closing I did what my MCT suggested, I assess if they are able to know what is ABAB

pattern, they did well. I give an example for ABC pattern, Shamma and Layan were able to

make it right, but they don’t agree that it’s a pattern.

I was happy about the lesson in general, I think I was better than the last lesson

I was little bit surprised of Roudah, since I come she is barely respond to me, she is shy and

most of the time she just don’t want to talk to anyone even her teachers, but in that day she

was moving a lot during the carpet she push her friends and don’t pay attention sometimes.

Actually I wasn’t upset about that I like that she is talking to her friends.

Sultan is a hyper boy he like to play a lot I use ClassDojo to try make him calm and set I give

him red, when he answers right I give him green. Sometimes even ClassDojo don’t works my

MCT make him set in the back of the class as a punishment I don’t think this is a good idea to

isolate him away from the carpet, I prefer to let him set on the chair beside me so he can keep

up with us instead to set away without understand.

I give them the assessment worksheet as home work 17 out of 22 students give me the

homework and they solve it correctly so I give them a point on ClassDojo.
